The Philadelphia Orchestra returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage for three concerts this season under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who is currently celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut with the Orchestra. The first program, on Tuesday, November 13 at 8:00 p.m., also highlights Mr. Nézet-Séguin's role as music director of The Metropolitan Opera with mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato joining the musicians for a performance of Chausson's Poème de l'amour et de la mer. The program also features the New York premiere of Anthology of Fantastic Zoology by Mason Bates, as well as works by Wagner and Respighi.

Canada's oldest professional black theatre company, Black Theatre Workshop are all set to launch their 48th season this October. The first production of the season is SOUND OF THE BEAST (SOTB), a one-woman show that uses spoken word, story-telling and hip-hop to spit rhymes from the underground and relentlessly challenge poverty, oppression, and bad dancing. SOTB is the latest instalment of writer / star Donna-Michelle St. Bernard's marathon project of writing 54 plays - one for every African nation. This one is inspired by Tunisian emcee Weld-El 15 who was jailed for 2 years in 2013 for his song Boulicia Kleb (The Police Are Dogs). Currently the Artistic Director of New Harlem Productions, Donna-Michelle is a multi-award winning, two-time nominee for the Governor General's Award for English-language drama, and, alongside Black Theatre Workshop is bringing Sound of the Beast to Montreal for the very first time.
Brian Babylon Announces Debut Comedy Album And NYC Shows

Brian Babylon, heard nationwide on NPR's Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me released his debut full-length comedy album Babylon Ball Z on September 28th with Blonde Medicine. Brian will support the release with dates spanning the US in September and October. He'll be in Chicago for his album's official release party before heading east to New York for a string of dates in the first half of October. Steven Lyons & Jamie Campbell are reuniting for a limited-run comedy tour that will hit a handful of lucky cities this October. The duo met when they were both stand-out performers in Chicago's world-famous comedy scene. Two twelve year-olds trapped inside the bodies of 30-something men, their act combines sketch comedy, stand-up, improvisation, and any other mix of dumb fun they can think of! Before disbanding when both left Chicago, they collaborated on the sketch comedy/talk show Talk Hard, which was named Chicago's "Best Sketch/Improv Troupe" by The Chicago Reader. The duo has performed on numerous stages, including The CSz Theater, Laugh Out Loud Comedy, Chicago Underground Comedy, Under The Gun Theater, and as headliners at the Columbus Improv Festival. They appeared on television sets across the nation as guests on Steve Gadlin's Star Makers. Steven now resides back in his home country of New Zealand, but is returning to the U.S. for a brief stint, making this very limited reunion tour possible. The Bushwick Film Festival (BFF) has announced details for their official 2018 Opening Night, sponsored by Spectrum. The festivities will kick off on Wednesday, October 10th at House of Yes in Brooklyn with a Red Carpet Reception and screening of 'Bushwick Beats'-a film created by six diverse directors each exploring the theme of unconditional love through varying storylines set under the evolving urban landscape of Bushwick. New York Comedy Festival Adds 100+ Shows

The New York Comedy Festival (NYCF), in association with TBS, announced today the addition of more than 100 shows to its 2018 line-up. The festival runs from November 5th through November 11th at some of New York City's most iconic venues including the Beacon Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Carolines on Broadway, Madison Square Garden, Town Hall and the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, among others.

Classic Stage Company will begin its 2018-2019 season with an unsettlingly timeless work: Bertolt Brecht's allegorical depiction of the rise of fascism, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. Today CSC announced that four-time Tony Award nominee and Law and Order: SVU alum Raul Esparza will star as the Al Capone-like, Hitler-paralleling Arturo Ui in this production.
