The Harlem Chamber Players will mark its 15th Anniversary and Black Music Month with a musical extravaganza Harlem Songfest II, celebrating Black opera singers and the music of Black composers, including women, on Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m. at Miller Theatre at Columbia University.

Rent è un musical rock scritto e composto da Jonathan Larson e ispirato all'opera La bohème di Giacomo Puccini; prende, dunque, libera ispirazione da un 'classico', come accaduto per altri musical di grandissima popolarità quali il 'Moulin Rouge!', che si basa su 'La Traviata' di Giuseppe Verdi, o il Phantom of the Opera di Andrew Loyd Webber, che ha trovato ispirazione ne 'Le Fantôme de l'Opéra' di Gaston Leroux, o ancora 'Les Misérables' di Claude-Michel Schönberg ,tratto dal romanzo di Victor Hugo).
