Ford's Theatre Society will host a Grand Reopening Celebration on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Ford's Theatre (511 10th Street NW). The invitation-only evening will include the presentation of the Lincoln Medal to filmmaker George Lucas and screen legend Sidney Poitier, whose accomplishments exemplify the character and lasting legacy of President Abraham Lincoln.

Wayne R. Reynolds, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Ford's Theatre Society, Paul R. Tetreault, Director of Ford's Theatre Society, and Kym Elder, Superintendent of Ford's Theatre National Historic Site, announced today that Ford's Theatre will reopen in February 2009 after an 18-month renovation. Ford's Theatre will celebrate with one week of public and private events honoring Abraham Lincoln's life and legacy. The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Campaign, a $50 million capital campaign to support the renovation of Ford's Theatre and its museum as well as the building of the new Center for Education and Leadership, has raised $43 million to date.

'AntiGravity' To Perform at Obama's Neighborhood Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C.

On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, the acclaimed aerial performance troupe AntiGravity will appear as one of the featured performances in the first-ever 'Neighborhood Inaugural Ball,' hosted by President Barack Obama. Starting at 8 p.m. (ET), live coverage of the event will be nationally televised on the ABC special 'The Neighborhood Ball: An Inauguration Celebration,' anchored by Charles Gibson, Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos. The premiere event of inauguration evening, the ball will include the President and First Lady's first dance of the night, President Obama's initial speech of the evening, and performances and appearances by many of the nation's top recording artists and stars, including two performances from the internationally celebrated AntiGravity troupe at 9:15 p.m. and 9:55 p.m.
