BIRDLAND THEATER will present the return of Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf – the acclaimed cellist celebrating her recent album Music of Broadway for Cello and Piano – on Monday, September 19 at 8:30 PM.

Birdland Jazz Club will present a special evening with renowned pianist and singer Billy Stritch and award-winning jazz vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli on Monday, September 19 at 7:00 PM.

The new music follows the release of Idol’s 2021 The Roadside EP, which included the Top 15 hit “Bitter Taste.” Recorded at Studio America and MDDN Studios in Los Angeles, the 4-track EP includes production contributions from English, Zakk Cervini (Blink 182, Machine Gun Kelly) and Butch Walker (Green Day, Weezer). Jake La Botz shares a single off his upcoming album Hair On Fire, “Hope TheSunshine”, along with an accompanying music video directed by Joe D'Augustine. “Hope The Sunshine” follows the previous single and title track, “Hair On Fire.” La Botz recently signed with Mongrel Music for North American booking, and announced tour dates for this Summer.

Martin Scorsese will receive the Eva Monley Award from the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) at its 9th Annual LMGI Awards. The awards ceremony and dinner will honor more than 50 years of Scorsese’s extraordinary award-winning work. The announcement was made by John Rakich, LMGI President and Committee Chair of this year’s LMGI Awards.

Having established a home base with his brilliant trio of bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Dave King — most recently heard on the guitarist’s acclaimed 2021 Blue Note debut Squint — Lage casts his gaze outward to discover new orchestrational possibilities with the addition of six-string icon Bill Frisell, who adds his voice to this album.

In true show style and gusto, the show must go on for brand new show Something About George in Liverpool this weekend after its lead cast member sustained a serious injury.
