Our Magic Opera Flying Carpet Virtual Tour begins in Los Angeles with the Signature Recital by tenor Russell Thomas and pianist Kyung-Mi Kim. A native of  Miami, Florida, Thomas debuted as Pollione in LA Opera’s Norma. He sang Cavaradossi in Tosca and Titus in The Clemency of Titus . Next year, he will be Radames in Aida. Currently, he is the company's Artist in Residence.

Pittsburgh Opera Reschedules SEMELE from February to May 2021

In response to on-going COVID-19 concerns, including high cases in Allegheny County and the slower-than-hoped-for vaccine rollout, Pittsburgh Opera is delaying its upcoming production of George Frideric Handel’s Semele from February to May 2021. The cast and artistic team are remaining the same, only the dates are changing.

Trinity Church Wall Street Has Released its Winter 2020 Schedule

This winter, Trinity Church Wall Street's  program of ambitious musical offerings in lower Manhattan sees the return of the audience favorite Bach + One concert series, which will crown its season in the spring with a performance of three of Bach's cantatas at the Leipzig Bach Festival. Director of Music Julian Wachner has also just been announced as one of three finalists to become the next Artistic Director of the storied Oregon Bach Festival. On the heels of last August's release of Ellen Reid's Pulitzer Prize-winning opera p r i s m on the Decca Gold label, with Wachner leading The Choir of Trinity Wall Street and Trinity's in-house contemporary orchestra, NOVUS NY, the same forces reunite for the Washington D.C. premiere of the opera in the Kennedy Center's DIRECT CURRENT festival.

NPR's FROM THE TOP Podcast Announces Musicians for Center for the Arts Recorded Performance

From the Top, the nationally-distributed NPR program and podcast that celebrates the voices and talents of America's brightest young classical musicians, will bring its next live recording event to the Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 29 at 8 p.m. Guest hosts Greg Anderson (a From the Top alum himself) and Elizabeth Joy Roe of the acclaimed piano duo Anderson & Roe will interview and perform with each of the exceptional young artists, ages 12 - 18, showcasing not just their inspiring talent, but also giving insight into the lives of these young, aspirational artists.

George Frideric Handel (1685a?"1759) was born in Germany, trained extensively in the music capitals of Italy, and spent most of his brilliant career in London. While his great choral and orchestral works have remained extraordinarily popular up to the present day, his theatrical creations, which were instrumental in introducing Italian opera to the British public. Vincenzo Cardinal Grimani (1652 or 1655a?"1710) was a career diplomat who also supplied libretti for opera composers, the text for Agrippina being his most famous.
