Harry Bicket Conducts The English Concert In Handel's Semele On April 14

On Sunday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m., Harry Bicket conducts Handel's Semele at Carnegie Hall with acclaimed baroque orchestra The English Concert. In this concert presentation, soprano Brenda Rae performs the title role, joined by mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong (Juno/Ino), bass Soloman Howard, (Cadmus/Somnus), tenor Benjamin Hulett (Jupiter), countertenor Christopher Lowrey (Athamas), soprano Ailish Tynan (Iris), tenor Brian Giebler (Apollo), and bass-baritone Joseph Beutel (Priest), along with The Clarion Choir (Steven Fox, Artistic Director).

Third Coast Baroque To Present Chicago Premiere Of Handel's TRIUMPH OF TIME AND DISENCHANTMENT April 12

Third Coast Baroque will conclude its 2018-19 season with the Chicago premiere of Handel's first oratorio - The Triumph of Time and Disenchantment, HWV 46a - on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 7:30 pm at First United Methodist Church at the Chicago Temple. Artistic director Ruben Dubrovsky also will lead 'Chicago's most accomplished period instrumentalists and singers' (Chicago Tribune) in the work's North Shore premiere Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 7:30 pm at Galvin Recital Hall in Evanston, Illinois.

San Francisco Opera Announces Casting Updates for 2019 Summer Season

Beginning June 5 and continuing through the 29th, San Francisco Opera presents a trio of extraordinary lyric works Georges Bizet's Carmen, George Frideric Handel's Orlando and Anton n Dvo k's Rusalka featuring powerful leading women in the title roles. Spanning three centuries and sung in French, Italian and Czech, the 2019 Summer Season repertory will occasion the Company debuts of four conductors, including two women, in productions that are new to the War Memorial Opera House stage. Some casting updates for the repertory were announced today and additional casting of supporting roles will be released at a future date.

San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock today announced repertory and casting for the Company's 97th Season, opening Friday, September 6, 2019, with a gala performance of Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliet (Rom o et Juliette) starring tenor Bryan Hymel and soprano Nadine Sierra in Op ra de Monte-Carlo Director Jean-Louis Grinda's production. Handel And Haydn' Society Presents 'Every Voice: A Celebration Of Our Community'

On November 3 and 4, The Handel and Haydn Society will celebrate the dynamic spirit of the local community with a celebration of song. Every Voice: A Celebration of Our Community will bring together members of the H+H Orchestra and Chorus, as well as students from H+H's Vocal Arts Program, for an uplifting musical festival for justice. San Francisco Early Music Society Announces 2018-19 Season

One of the nation's leading organizations for the advancement of early music, the San Francisco Early Music Society (SFEMS) has announced its 2018-19 season featuring some of the most exciting early music practitioners here and abroad in nine wide-ranging programs. The season runs from October 12 through May 19, with concerts presented in Palo Alto, Berkeley and San Francisco. 

Michigan Opera Theatre Single Tickets On Sale 8/20

Single tickets for Michigan Opera Theatre's (MOT) 2018-19 season will go on sale next Monday, Aug. 20. The MOT opera series celebrates masterworks of literature turned opera, by authors like John Steinbeck and Voltaire. The MOT dance series will celebrate modern dance, following the movement through multiple generations.
