A Variety exclusive reveals Gemma Chan is in talks to join Marvel's “The Eternals.” Marvel declined to comment.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.

The Asian American Arts Alliance announces the launch of a new initiative to support Asian Americans pursuing careers in the arts. Table Dish, A4's new professional development series, will bring experts in specific disciplines together with aspiring professionals in a roundtable setting to answer questions, provide advice, and create networking and mentoring opportunities.

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios' “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom. 

Last night in Los Angeles, stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Lashana Lynch, Lee Pace, Rune Temte and Algenis Perez Soto were joined by directors Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck and producer Kevin Feige for a walk down the red carpet where they greeted excited fans at the world premiere of Marvel Studios' CAPTAIN MARVEL.

During the Super Bowl, fans got a special, brand-new look at  Marvel Studios' CAPTAIN MARVEL. 

"The Favourite" was the favorite film of more than 2,500 users who voted for the 17th Annual Gold Derby Film Awards nominations. It scored 12 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director (Yorgos Lanthimos), Best Actress (Olivia Colman), Best Supporting Actress (Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz) and Best Ensemble. Disney has released a behind-the-scenes featurette with cast and filmmakers from Marvel Studios' 'Captain Marvel.' Follow Brie Larson in this exciting featurette as she and directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck describe the intense training involved to help transform Larson into her Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel character for the Marvel Studios film.

Last night, Disney released an the exclusive look at Marvel Studios' CAPTAIN MARVEL  on ESPN during the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Clemson Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Marvel Studios' announced today that the trailer for CAPTAIN MARVEL will debut on ESPN's “Monday Night Football” tomorrow, Monday, December 3, during halftime of the National Football League (NFL) game between the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. The game starts at 5:15 p.m. PT/8:15 p.m. ET. 

This morning, Film Independent announced that Aubrey Plaza (Ingrid Goes West, Legion, Parks & Recreation) will host the 2019 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The Spirit Awards are the primary fundraiser for Film Independent's year-round programs, which cultivate the careers of emerging filmmakers and promote diversity in the industry. Nominees were announced by Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians, Captain Marvel, Mary Queen of Scots) and Molly Shannon (Divorce, Private Life, Other People) at a press conference on November 16. Best Feature nominees include Eighth Grade, First Reformed, If Beale Street Could Talk, Leave No Trace and You Were Never Really Here. The show will broadcast live exclusively on IFC at 2:00 pm PT/ 5:00 pm ET on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
