Disney Junior has ordered a second season of 'Mira, Royal Detective' ahead of its spring 2020 debut. The news was announced last night by Joe D'Ambrosia, senior vice president, Original Programming and general manager, Disney Junior, during a special advance screening of the series in Burbank, California. Set in the magical Indian-inspired land of Jalpur, the series follows the brave and resourceful Mira, a commoner who is appointed to the role of royal detective by the queen and travels throughout her kingdom to help royals and commoners alike.

Today, ABFF Ventures announced Cynthia Erivo will receive the a?oeRising Star Awarda?? at the 2020 ABFF Honors. The fourth annual ceremony, hosted by actor and comedian Deon Cole, will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. 

National Geographic, with Imagine Television Studios and Fox 21 Television Studios, announced today that Tony®-, Emmy®- and Grammy® Award-winning Cynthia Erivo (“Harriet,” Broadway's “The Color Purple”) will star as Aretha Franklin in the next installment of the Emmy-winning global anthology series Genius: Aretha. This upcoming season will be the first-ever, definitive and only authorized scripted limited series on the life of the universally acclaimed Queen of Soul. Filming will start this November for a spring 2020 premiere on National Geographic channels in 172 countries and 43 languages.

Production has begun on 'Mira, Royal Detective,' an animated mystery-adventure series for preschoolers slated to debut on Disney Junior channels and programming blocks around the world in 2020. Set in the magical Indian-inspired land of Jalpur, the series follows the brave and resourceful Mira, a commoner who is appointed to the role of royal detective after solving a mystery that involves saving the kingdom's young prince. The role of Mira will be voiced by 15-year-old newcomer Leela Ladnier. The announcement was made today by Joe D'Ambrosia, senior vice president, Original Programming, Disney Junior.

The World Premiere of Netflix's Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, will be held in Mumbai on November 25th, 2018 with director and star Andy Serkis joined by Christian Bale, Freida Pinto, Louis Ashbourne Serkis and newcomer Rohan Chand who plays Mowgli in the film.

Acclaimed actor and director Andy Serkis reinvents Rudyard Kipling's beloved masterpiece, in which a boy torn between two worlds accepts his destiny and becomes a legend. Leslie Odom Jr. will star in an ABC comedy with Kerry Washington executive producing, according to Variety. ABC has given the comedy a put pilot commitment and it is inspired by the experiences of real-life pastors Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes-Roberts.

The 4th Annual Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) has announced that actresses Lisa Lu and Awkwafina will be honored with the Snow Leopard Awards at the festival's closing night ceremony, November 1 at the ArcLight Cinema in Downtown Culver City (9500 Culver Blvd.) AWFF is once again partnering with The Snow Leopard Trust to raise awareness for the endangered snow leopard and its ecosystem in the high mountains of Asia. The fourth Annual Asian World Film Festival asianworldfilmfest.org (AWFF) has selected India's Golden Globes foreign language contender Love Sonia as the Festival's opening night film on October 24. China's In Harm's Way will be the closing night film on November 1. The Centerpiece film will be Burning, South Korea's current Oscar contender.
