The New Group continues its 20th Anniversary Season with the New York Premiere of Rasheeda Speaking, by Joel Drake Johnson, helmed by Cynthia Nixon in her directorial debut. This production features Patricia Conolly, Darren Goldstein, and as previously announced, Tonya Pinkins and Dianne Wiest. A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays tonight, January 27 - March 22, 2015, with Official Opening Night set for Wednesday, February 11 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).

The world premiere of choreographer Jonah Bokaer's 'Four Women,' a dance/film installation inspired by four women who were hanged for their participation in an attempted rebellion against the SS troupers on October 7, 1944 at Auschwitz, opens at the Center for Jewish History today, October 7. The film is part of an exhibition entitled 'October 7, 1944,' which takes place within the Popper Gallery at CJH.

LA Philharmonic Began New Season with Celebration of John Williams, 9/30

The Los Angeles Philharmonic and its Music Director Gustavo Dudamel opened the 2014/15 season with A Celebration of John Williams: Opening Night Gala Concert, a star-studded evening honoring the greatest film composer of all time at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Tuesday, September 30. The event featured the LA Phil, led by Dudamel, world-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman, soloists Dan Higgins, Glenn Paulson and Michael Valerio, the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets and the Los Angeles Children's Chorus, led by Anne Tomlinson and supported by members from the Angeles Chorale. Also showcased were several elaborate video installations created by projection designer Netia Jones and critically-acclaimed creative studio LIGHTMAP. The all-Williams concert program included specially selected works from throughout his impressive career as well as a surprise appearance during the encores.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation Announces 1,715 Submissions for Guggenheim Helsinki Design Competition

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation announced today that 1,715 confirmed submissions have been received in response to Stage One of the open, anonymous, international, two-stage competition for the design of a proposed Guggenheim museum in the Finnish capital of Helsinki. The submissions represent the largest number of entries recorded for a competition of this kind, surpassing the 2002 competition for the Grand Egyptian Museum, which received 1,557 entries, and the largest architectural competition in Helsinki, for the Helsinki Central Library, which attracted 544 entries in 2012.
