Aida Garifullina and Hrachuhí Bassénz will share the coveted role of Violetta in this revival of Richard Eyre's opulent production of La traviata, performed between Saturday 7 – Saturday 21 September 2024.   

The Royal Opera House has announced that Jonas Kaufmann has withdrawn from the final two performances of Werther on Saturday 1 July and Tuesday 4 July due to continued illness.  

The Greek National Opera (GNO) presents a revival of legendary Greek director Spyros Evengelatos' production of Massenet's Werther featuring leading mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili in her highly anticipated role debut as Charlotte, conducted by Jacques Lacombe in his GNO debut.

Two Ukrainian opera companies were celebrated for their outstanding work in challenging circumstances at the International Opera Awards 2022 this evening [28 Nov]. The international opera world came together at Teatro Real in Madrid for the glittering ceremony celebrating the best of the past year.

The Greek National Opera’s 2022-23 season curated by GNO Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis will feature ten new opera and ballet productions, one newly commissioned opera, five revivals of past productions, music concerts, major co-productions with some of the world’s foremost opera houses, collaborations with leading conductors and more.

Mexican tenor Javier Camarena has withdrawn from all Rigoletto performances. The role of the Duke of Mantua will be performed by Italian tenor Francesco Demuro. 

Los Angeles Opera’s presentation of Oedipus Rex by Igor Stravinsky is available online from June 17 to July 18, 2021. The libretto is by Jean Cocteau. The cast includes: Oedipus, Russell Thomas; Jocasta, J’nai Bridges; Creon, John Relyea; Tiresias, Morris Robinson; Narrator, Stephen Fry; Conductor, James Conlon.

La Sonnambula by Vincenzo Bellini is coming to the stage at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées this summer.

In April, 2019, Pacific Opera Project performed Puccini’s Madama Butterfly 蝶々夫人 in Japanese and English at the Aratani Theatre, part of the Japanese-American Cultural Center of Los Angeles’s “Little Tokyo. San Francisco Opera’s weekly, free opera streams continue in February with Wagner’s Lohengrin (February 6–7), Mozart’s Così fan tutte (February 13–14), Puccini’s La Rondine (February 20–21) and Verdi’s Falstaff (February 27–28).

The presentations, filmed live in high-definition at the War Memorial Opera House, will be viewable on demand for free with registration at sfopera.com on the first streaming date starting at 10 am (PDT) and expiring at 11:59 pm the following day.

While McCaw Hall's stage may be dark, opera music continues to reverberate in the Pacific Northwest and beyond: Starting every Saturday on April 25, enjoy Seattle Opera Mornings on King FM. Classical KING FM 98.1 will broadcast recordings of previous Seattle Opera performances including Tosca, La traviata, The Magic Flute, and Madame Butterfly. Broadcasts will be available on the radio and at king.org every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

Will anyone else but Ambrogio Maestri bring the same dynamism to Robert Carsen's 1950's take on Verdi's masterpiece, FALSTAFF? Time will tell.
