Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announced today that Curtis T. Bell has made a $2.5 million gift towards the theater's ambitious Power Plays initiative. Over the next 10 years, Arena Stage will commission and develop 25 new plays and musicals focused on stories of politics and power. Bell's contribution will be leveraged as a matching gift challenge, ultimately raising an additional $2.5 million to fully fund the Presidential Voices cycle of the initiative.

This one night only evening featured an all-female cast and creative team singing songs about love from across the musical theatre spectrum.

Obie Award-winner Jo Bonney directs the world premiere of an edgy, intense and darkly comic new play by John Pollono (Small Engine Repair, Lost Girls) in a co-production of the Latino Theater Company and The Temblors, a unique new collective of seven Los Angeles-based playwrights. Rules of Seconds opens March 23 at The Los Angeles Theater Center, with low-priced previews beginning March 16.

On Thursday, Abingdon Theatre Company celebrated the opening night of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, a new play written by James Lecesne about how one family deals with the effects of Alzheimer's. Directed by Tony Speciale, the company includes Concetta Tomei, James Davis, Dan Domingues, Angela Reed, Isabella Russo and Dale Soules, with performances set to run through February 26. The official press opening is tonight, February 9, in Abingdon's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Nashville mayor Megan Barry will join Actors Bridge Ensemble (ABE) for its V-Day Nashville 2017 benefit performance of Eve Ensler's award-winning The Vagina Monologues on Friday, February 17, at City Winery, 609 Lafayette Street.

McDaniel College students perform Eve Ensler's celebrated play, 'The Vagina Monologues,' today, Feb. 3, and Saturday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. This is the 14th year that the play has been performed at McDaniel.

The Boston College Theatre Department will host Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, who will give a lecture at the University's Robsham Theater Arts Center on Thursday, February 9 at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public, free of charge.
