During Arena Stage's 58th season the theater faced the difficult challenges of the economic crisis early on, and after the conclusion of its 2009 fiscal year, Arena reports the books have closed in the black. While the financial success, in the face of such an unpredictable year, is paramount to the strength of Arena and its future, the theater also succeeded on and off the stage this year in numerous, exceptional ways.

Dolly Parton's Tony Award-nominated score for 9 To 5: The Musical will be released on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 by DOLLY RECORDS. The Original Broadway Cast Recording of 9 to 5: The Musical was recorded Sunday, May 3, and Monday, May 4, 2009, at Legacy Recording Studios in New York and will be available at the Marquis Theatre in New York City, on all digital formats, in retail outlets and via www.dollypartonmusic.net.

Jennifer Mendenhall To Replace Carla Harting In LEGACY OF LIGHT At Arena Stage

Due to a bike accident in the D.C. area, actress Carla Harting has suffered a broken leg with compound fractures and will no longer be able to continue in the role of Olivia in the Arena Stage production Legacy of Light. Legacy of Light, written by D.C. playwright Karen ZacarÍas and directed by Arena Artistic Director Molly Smith, runs until June 14 at Arena Stage in Crystal City. For the remaining performances, Jennifer Mendenhall (Woolly Mammoth company member) will join the cast in the role of Olivia.
