The Broadway Education Alliance has announced the winners of the 13th annual Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance, which was held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS).

Students at five Madison Metropolitan School District elementary schools and one middle school are singing, acting and dancing again with Disney Musicals in Schools after a three-year intermission. In celebration, Overture will host the Disney Musicals in Schools 2023 Student Share on Tuesday, May 23 with a one-hour performance at 11:45 a.m. in Capitol Theater.

Jaquel Spivey, Tony and Grammy Award-nominated artist for his role in A Strange Loop, will co-host the 2022-23 Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance. Learn how to purchase tickets!

Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival has announced the complete principal casts, creative teams, and events planned for the previously announced summer season.

On Tuesday, May 23, nearly 100 elementary students from Pittsburgh will have the extraordinary opportunity to sing and dance on the Byham Theater (located at 101 6th Street) stage as the result of a grant awarded to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's education department by Disney Theatrical Group (DTG).

Repertorio Español will present the Van Lier Spanish Golden Age productions, which will take place from June 30th to August 6th.

One of the first things I realized when I moved to Orlando back in 2020 was the extremely active and vibrant arts scene. This came as a real surprise because, as an outsider, I had previously only associated the area with theme parks and tourism. I quickly learned about the wealth of talent, artistic offerings and culture available to us all here in the City Beautiful and of the amazing venues and spaces where art and culture happen here every day and have since had a chance to personally experience so many of those spaces as I review performances there. One of those key spaces, or cultural “hearts” of the city, is the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts – a stellar, state of the art venue that houses multiple performance spaces and makes its mission to provide “Arts For Every Life”. To learn more about the Dr. Phillips Center and everything it has to offer today (and for the future), I sat down with CEO Kathy Ramsberger who provided a bit of background on her own journey and discussed the role the center plays bringing arts and culture to the people of Orlando and beyond.

Mt. Pleasant High School (MPHS) will present Delaware's first-ever high school production of Disney's Frozen: The Broadway Musical, as part of the nationwide competition The United States of Frozen: Love Is an Open Door. The production features 30 student actors; 22 pit musicians, including 8 student musicians; 25 student stage crew members, and 3 student assistants (Student Director, Student Choreographer, and Stage Manager).

Disney’s FROZEN the Broadway Musical comes to life at the Wesley E. Kennedy Performing Arts Center at Marshwood High School as 1 of 51 schools in the United States this year!  Marshwood High School Theatre is thrilled to offer this production after winning the 'Love is an Open Door' contest for the state of Maine. 

The Museum of Broadway will begin offering onsite educational workshops and resources for school group visitors.

The Broadway Education Alliance has announced that fifty-six Greater New York area high schools will participate in The 13th Annual Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance to celebrate the importance of theater arts education and recognize outstanding youth performers.

Black Theatre Coalition co-founders T. Oliver Reid, Warren Adams, and Reginald “Reggie” Van Lee, along with Executive Director Olivia Jones, and Program Director Nik Whitcomb, has announced that Lanise Antoine Shelley has been chosen as the recipient of the 2023 American Express Directing Fellowship.

The students and staffs of four local elementary schools will take to the stage and produce their first musical theater performance this year with the help of Playhouse Square and the Disney Musicals in Schools program presented by Dee and Jimmy Haslam.

The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) has announced the four new schools that have been selected to participate in the 2023 Disney Musicals in Schools program. The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Group to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools.
