Trustus Theatre brings the Tony Award-winning hit musical, Memphis by Joe Dipietro and David Bryan, to the Thigpen Main Stage this summer. Showing from June 29 - July 28, 2018, this show brings two unlikely characters together on Beale Street, although the world isn't quite ready for their love or their rock 'n' roll music. Trustus Theatre today announced that it is progressing to its next level of leadership. Effective August 31st, Chad Henderson, the theatre's current co-artistic director, will take on full artistic responsibilities as Dewey Scott-Wiley leaves Trustus to pursue other artistic goals. In addition, Henderson will serve as interim managing director, taking over from current managing director Larry Hembree, who is retiring.
Bill W. and Dr. Bob is an absorbing play by Samuel Shem and Janey Surrey about the men who created Alcoholics Anonymous in the early twentieth century. The AA movement has brought a system of support and hope to millions of addicts in recovery. This production explores how these men recognized their addiction to alcohol, what effect it was having on their lives and their families' lives, and how they started building a system that would promote effective recovery.
