PLANET CONNECTIONS' PLAYWRIGHTS FOR A CAUSE: This year, this event, designed to address a powerful social and topical issue facing our society today through engaging stage works, will explore the distinctions between gender and sexuality. The event will benefit THE ALI FORNEY CENTER.

Animus Theatre Company (Jonathan Judge-Russo, Founding Artistic Director), an artist-driven company whose mission is to explore and illuminate the resilience of the human spirit, is thrilled to announce that its 2018-2019 programming will kick-off this April with the New York premiere of Surfer Girl by acclaimed screen & playwright Leslye Headland (Assistance, Bachelorette). Performances of this exciting New York premiere will take place on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 7:00pm (doors open 7:00pm, performance begins 7:30pm)beginning April 10 and continuing through May 30, 2018, at The Foley Gallery (59 Orchard Street, between Grand and Hester), located in Manhattan's esteemed Lower Eastside gallery district.

Step1 Theater Project (Jazmyn Arroyo & Janelle Zapata, founders) has organized a benefit, ARTISTS UNITED FOR PUERTO RICO, to raise funds for those devastated by Hurricane Maria.

Desi Moreno-Penson's Beige has been named the winner of Arizona Theatre Company's 2016 National Latino Playwriting Award, and the recipient of the $1000 prize. 

Amidst the current national conversations pertaining to privilege, systemic racism, anger and fear, the timely and relevant new play, LET THE DEVIL TAKE THE HINDMOST, premieres at the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) August 12- August 23th as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

The gulf between what's said and what isn't is at the heart of the sweet and whimsical comedy The Language Archive by Julia Cho, next up at Bristol Riverside Theatre on January 26-February 14.  Directed by Adam Immerwahr, the ensemble cast features Keith Baker, Irungu Mutu, Jo Twiss, Tiffany Villarin, and Julianna Zinkel.

The Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors announces the passing of HOLA Awardee and legendary performer, writer and poet, Anita Velez-Mitchell (February 21,1916 - July 10, 2015) who was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico and came to NYC when she was 12.

Now on its second week, MultiStages Theatre presents the world premiere of Desi Moreno-Penson's Comida de Puta (F%&king Lousy Food), directed by producing artistic director Lorca Peress. Comida de Puta (F%&king Lousy Food) plays a limited engagement at The West End Theatre (Church of St Paul and St Andrew at 263 West 86th Street, New York, NY 10024).
