 In the big voice year of '96 a dreamy song called “Strawberry Wine” came on the radio and captured the hearts of millions of country music fans around the world. The tune, by 30-year-old newcomer Deana Carter – a natural beauty inside and out – featured her soft, sensual voice in a song about expectations. It defied all odds to become a multi-week No.#1 hit on her debut album Did I Shave My Legs For This?, a funny question in a title and one of the album's songs that perfectly encapsulates the countryfied wit and nostalgic sensibilities of Carter. The debut album met a wild success as a multi-platinum international best seller and “Strawberry Wine” won a CMA “Single of the Year” award and a Grammy nomination for “Best Country Song.”

It is Billboard's Highest Female Debut of 2019 on the Country Airplay Chart, coming in at #21, and the #4 Highest Billboard Country Radio Debut in 2019. It is also Billboard's #1 Greatest Gainer on the Country Airplay Chart this week. While Mediabase reports the 2nd Highest Female Debut, 8th Highest Debut All Country of 2019 and this week's #1 Top Point Gainer.

The Country Music Association has revealed the initial artist lineup for this year's CMA Fest, which features hundreds of Country Music artists performing on multiple stages throughout downtown Nashville Thursday through Sunday, June 6-9. CMA Fest is a one-of-a-kind festival with artists donating their time to perform so a portion of ticket proceeds can directly benefit high-quality music programs across the country through the CMA Foundation. A limited number of four-day passes for the nightly performances at Nissan Stadium are still available at CMAfest.com or through the CMA Box Office at 1-800-CMA-FEST.

The party will consist of two performance rounds by some of Nashville's best female singer-songwriters, and a special panel on the “State of Women in Country Music,” which will feature CMT's Leslie Fram, Red Light's Tracy Gershon and MTSU's Beverly Keel.
