Live theatre will return to Avon Players in time for its 75th season as the company presents Night of January 16th running September 24-October 9. Night of January 16th is a courtroom drama by Ayn Rand. The play depicts the trial of Karen Andre (Hosanna Phillips of Hazel Park), who is accused of murdering Bjorn Faulkner, her boss and secret lover.

Avon Players' production of Deathrap by Ira Levin, running now through February 1st at Avon Players in Rochester Hills, is a suspenseful thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat!
Living a seemingly comfortable life in his charming Connecticut home, playwright Sydney Bruhl is struggling to overcome a string of failures that have left him hurting for money. However, he quickly realizes his luck may be turning around when he receives a script in the mail from Clifford Anderson, a former student. Greed instantly overcomes Sydney upon reviewing the script and realizing that it will be a sure-fired hit. Sydney offers to collaborate with the young writer, but the plan he has devised with his wife Myra is far more devilish. The audience is taken on a rollercoaster of suspense and anxiety as the events of this play unfold. This isn't your usual night out at the theatre.

As relevant today as they were half a century ago, more than 150 black-and-white images chronicling the Southern Freedom Movement are featured in THIS LIGHT OF OURS: ACTIVIST PHOTOGRAPHERS OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, on view September 29, 2016 through May 14, 2017, at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage (2929 Richmond Road, Beachwood, OH 44122; 216.593.0575; maltzmuseum.org). The Main Thing: Cabaret Series Kicks Off Friday, August 19 at Toby's Dinner Theatre

In response to the mounting needs of individuals and numerous organizations impacted by the Saturday, July 31st flood in Old Ellicott City, MD, Toby's Dinner Theatre will join with Glenelg Country School's Performing Arts Chair, Carole Graham Lehan, to present The Main Thing: Cabaret Series. The first two events will harken back to a time-honored "post-show" tradition in which talented actors provide a NY-style Broadway experience in late-night entertainment for one hour after the main show concludes. On selected dates, the evening's theatre-goers will be able to join walk-up guests for a cash-only cover charge of $10 per person. Proceeds and bar sales will go to EC Partnership relief fund.
Theatricum Botanicum to Stage World Premiere Adaptation of UNCLE TOM'S CABIN

Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum presents TOM, a world premiere stage adaptation of Harriet Beecher Stowe's 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' that offers a new look at the power of Stowe's most famous novel and at the true grit of its title character. Written by artistic director Ellen Geer and featuring folk music of the period, TOM joins the repertory season at Theatricum's spectacular outdoor amphitheatre in Topanga on June 18.
