Tribeca Announces 2020 Short Film Lineup

The 19th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its 2020 Shorts Program lineup. Setting a record with over 6,100 submissions, the final program roster includes 64 diverse and captivating short films from 20 countries around the globe, and features 46 world premieres, including DreamWorks Animation's new animated short, To Gerard. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs which include five narrative, four documentary, and one animation program. For the fourth consecutive year, 40 percent of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. Queen Collective by Procter & Gamble in partnership with Queen Latifah, Flavor Unit Entertainment and Tribeca Studios is back, a program dedicated to supporting gender and racial equality behind the camera. The 2020 shorts lineup is programmed by Sharon Badal and Ben Thompson. The 2020 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 15 - April 26.

Mansa Productions founder Kellon Akeem has announced that Y'lan Noel (“Insecure”) has been cast as the lead in Mo McRae's directorial debut A LOT OF NOTHING. Producers for the thriller include Inny Clemons, McRae, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sarah Kelly Kaplan, Anonymous Content, Mansa Productions founder Kellon Akeem and Jason Tamasco on behalf of Bad Idea. Golden Globe-nominated actor David Oyelowo will serve as an executive producer for the project along with Mansa Production's Yandy Smith, Kim Hodgert and Nina Soriano on behalf of Anonymous Content as well as Zak Kristofek for Bad Idea and Ethan Lazar. Leslie Woo is currently casting the project, which is set to begin shooting principal photography this spring.

The Olivier Award nominated stage production of The Tiger Who Came to Tea today announces an 8-week summer season in the West End for 2020, returning to Theatre Royal Haymarket following its hugely popular 2019 Christmas run. A musical play adapted and directed by David Wood OBE, based on the classic tale by the late Judith Kerr OBE, The Tiger Who Came to Tea will open in London on Thursday 16 July, playing until 6 September 2020. This will be the production's 7th West End run and marks its 12th year on stage.

National Youth Theatre Awarded Multi-million-pound Funding To Undergo Major Transformation Of Its Holloway Road Headquarters

The National Youth Theatre (NYT) has been awarded £2,000,000 from the Mayor of London's Good Growth Fund to undergo a major renovation to its Holloway Road building in North London. They've Gotta Have Us, a dynamic chronicle of art, activism and race in Black Cinema featuring in-depth interviews with some of Hollywood's most iconic voices, has been acquired by ARRAY Releasing as the company's first series acquisition.  ARRAY will premiere the docu-series on Netflix on February 5, 2020. ARRAY has also acquired distribution rights in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. The announcement was made by ARRAY founder Ava DuVernay.
