Chicago Jazz Orchestra to Play MILES AHEAD in Chicago Debut, 11/3

On Sunday, November 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Jeff Lindberg, will present trumpeter Jon Faddis in the Chicago premiere of the Miles Davis/Gil Evans landmark recording, Miles Ahead.

Pacifico Dance Company to Perform at Harris Center, 10/4

Founded in 1992, this company of 32 accomplished dancers and musicians will present the essence of traditional folkloric styles with modern dance idioms. The company has toured internationally-the first folkloric company to tour Asia-and enjoyed a residency in The Kennedy Center. The work to be performed on Stage One, Mexico en Movimiento begins in the enigmatic realm of Aztec mythology and journeys onward, offering an exciting glimpse of Mexico's evolving present, and the afterlife. "Pacifico brings us Mexican dances with classical rigor" (La Opinion).

Oakland Symphony Chorus Announces 55th Season

Performances of choral masterworks by Brahms, Berlioz and Handel; Winter and Spring holiday concerts and a selection of community events will highlight the Oakland Symphony Chorus' 2013—2014, 55th annual concert season, Music Director Dr. Lynne Morrow has announced. Four concerts will feature Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes on November 16, 2013, culminating an 11-week community workshop exploring their music and history; the annual holiday “Let Us Break Bread Together” December 15 with Oakland East Bay Symphony and guests; an Easter-time sing-along of Handel's Messiah April 13, 2014 and the monumental Berlioz Requiem with Oakland East Bay Symphony May 16, 2014 celebrating the Chorus' 55th anniversary, Oakland East Bay Symphony's 25th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Oakland Youth Orchestra. In addition, the Chorus will present a Discovery Day event for the community to explore, learn about and hear portions of the Berlioz Requiem on April 26, 2014. Hilary Kole to Play Cooperstown Summer Music Festival, 8/11

Jazz Vocalist Hilary Kole returns to the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival to sing a selection of classic standards and contemporary songs about love, loss, and the journey to find one's true heart. The concert will feature songs from Cole Porter, Elvis Costello, Irving Berlin, Paul Simon, and more.

Pacific Northwest Ballet Announces 2013-2014 Season; Tickets on Sale Now

Pacific Northwest Ballet opens its Box Office for 2013-2014 ticket sales on Monday, July 22. As is its tradition, PNB is offering aspecial money-saving deal to celebrate the company's 41st season: Pay no service fees on tickets purchased thru July 31. Jason Alexander, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, Complexions Ballet and More Set for Harris Center's 2013-14 Season

Bringing artists from all over the world, and from most every genre, the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College - formerly known as Three Stages at Folsom Lake College - will offer literally hundreds of performances in 2013-14. Beginning in late July, 2013 and extending into spring 2014, the new season includes world-class performers like Kenny Loggins, Seinfeld's Jason Alexander, and Savion Glover; Broadway productions such as Peter and the Starcatcher, The Addams Family and Bring It On: The Musical (all of which are appearing in the capital region for the first time ever); and an unprecedented season of dance in Folsom which kicks off with Alonzo King LINES Ballet and also features Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Bellydance Superstars, Ballroom with a Twist, and return visits of the popular Moscow Festival Ballet's Swan Lake and Diavolo Dance Theatre; and many more, all on the stages at the Harris Center.

Jazz pianist, Dave Brubeck, put together a quartet that played during the 1950s and 60s and that put out the first platinum selling jazz album, with the title Time Out. It contained the track, Take Five, which became the top selling instrumental piece of all time. Take Five - The Dave Brubeck Story is a tribute to that particular incarnation of the quartet.

The National Symphony Orchestra Announces its 2013 Wolf Trap Summer Schedule

The National Symphony Orchestra today announced its 2013 line-up of performances at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Eleven performances will take place between June 26 and August 3, 2013. Emil de Cou, in his ninth season as NSO@Wolf Trap Festival Conductor, hosts 10 of the performances and conducts four, including the opening and closing performances in the series.
