The Tony Award-winning Old Globe will host its annual Gala on Saturday, July 31, in celebration of its 75th Anniversary and the world premiere of Robin and the 7 Hoods - A New Musical. The event is co-chaired by Karen Cohn, Valerie Cooper, Deni Jacobs, Sandra Redman and Debra Turner and is the Globe's largest annual fundraiser.

The Old Globe's third annual Summer Shakespeare Intensive for teens will conclude on Monday, August 16 at 8:00 p.m. with a bilingual (English/Spanish) performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and As You Like It.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto has announced that due to unforeseen conflicts with Roger Rees' schedule, The Old Globe's upcoming production of What You Will has been replaced with Golda's Balcony starring four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh. Written by William Gibson and supervised by Scott Schwartz, Golda's Balcony earned Feldshuh a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress, and is the longest running one-woman show in Broadway history. Golda's Balcony will runin the Old Globe Theatre April 28 - May 30. Previews run April 28 - May 1. Opening night is Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are currently available to subscribers only. The evening will include a special performance by South Pacific stars, Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot, with musical direction by Ted Sperling, and will officially open the new Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre.

'Some Enchanted Evening,' the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center Inaugural Gala, begins at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 and includes a reception, dinner and a performance in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre by Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot, the stars of Broadway's South Pacific. The orchestra will be conducted by Ted Sperling.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced a month-long series of events celebrating the opening of The Old Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. The Theatre Center incorporates the flagship Old Globe Theatre and a newly-constructed four-level facility housing the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, Karen and Donald Cohn Education Center, Hattox Hall, Erna and Andrew Viterbi Lobby, Lady Carolyn's Pub and Donald and Darlene Shiley Terrace.

From film to musical stage: though hardly original, it seems to be the steadiest solution to filling the large theaters of The Great White Way. 10 years ago the Old Globe hosted the musicalization of The Full Monty, which translated quite appealingly to the stage...and now so does the new effort from Rupert Holmes and Holland, Dozier, Holland: The First Wives Club, so popular with movie audiences in 1996.

The Old Globe?s second annual Summer Shakespeare Intensive for Teens began on July 20 and will conclude on August 17 with a performance of Shakespeare?s Pericles, Prince of Tyre. The play will be performed in English with scenes in Spanish and American Sign Language. The performance will also be interpreted in sign language for the deaf and hard of hearing. The Intensive is a classical acting program designed to provide an opportunity for committed high school students to refine their acting skills through a full-time, four-week course culminating in a performance on the Globe?s outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre stage.
