The Old Globe 2026 HOLIDAY SEASON INCLUDES:

Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage, Old Globe Theatre, Conrad Prebys Theatre Center
November 4 – December 31 (opening: Sunday, Nov. 8)
Directed by James Vásquez

The Grinch features a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin. The original production of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! was conceived and directed by Jack O’Brien, with additional lyrics by Theodor S. Geisel, additional music by Albert Hague, and original choreography by John DeLuca.

Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a wonderful, whimsical musical based upon the classic Dr. Seuss book. Back for its 29th incredible year, the family favorite features the songs “Santa for a Day,” “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and “Welcome, Christmas (Fah Who Doraze),” the delightful carol from the popular animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Celebrate the holidays as the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in The Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, is once again transformed into the snow-covered Whoville, right down to the last can of Who-hash.

¡Cómo el Grinch robó la Navidad!

World premiere of the fully produced Spanish-language production
November 17, 20, 21, and 22 – Four performances only!
Lyric translation and adaptation by Katya María Ojeda Iturbide and Luis Gerardo Villegas
Directed by James Vásquez

¡Cómo el Grinch robó la Navidad! was adapted from The Old Globe’s whimsical musical based on the classic Dr. Seuss book, Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which premiered in 1997. This engagement marks the world premiere of the full production of Grinch in Spanish.

Max the dog narrates the tale of how the mean and scheming Grinch tries to steal Christmas from the holiday-loving Whos of Whoville. But the Grinch discovers there is more to Christmas than he bargained for. Audiences will delight in how the Grinch learns the magic and meaning of Christmas.

Ebenezer Scrooge’s BIG San Diego Christmas Show

Audiences of all ages will cheer as Ebenezer Scrooge rediscovers the true Christmas spirit in this riotous Dickens mash-up filled with music and laughter—and set in “wintery” San Diego.
