PlayGround, California's leading playwright incubator and theatre community hub, has announced its 29th season, including the return of the celebrated Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series on third Mondays,* October - March, in-person this year at Berkeley's Freight & Salvage and live simulcast.

Following her smash hit La Havana Madrid, Chicago writer, actor, singer and producer Sandra Delgado returns to the stage with The Sandra Delgado Experience (The SDE), a big band music spectacular with a little bit of dancing, a little bit of storytelling and a whole lot of joy.

Led by the masterful Mabel del Pozo in the title role and Luz Nicolás as her aunt, GALA Hispanic Theatre has mounted a nuanced and visually rich production of Federico García Lorca's 1935 play, Doña Rosita la soltera, adapted by Nando López.

In Mario Vargas Llosa's novel about his early days as a writer, his main character tries and tries again to get his work right. To present a live production of that tale, 'La Tía Julia y el escribidor (Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter)' at the GALA Hispanic Theatre required the same patience and determination.

John Guare's Six Degrees of Separation will continue The Ensemble Company's 2021 season (its third) at its home at Penguin Point Productions. Six Degrees of Separation runs May 7th through 17th, 2021 at Penguin Point Productions' venue, located in the Oviedo Mall at 1220 Oviedo Mall Blvd in Oviedo.

John Guare's Six Degrees of Separation will continue The Ensemble Company's 2021 season (its third) at its home at Penguin Point Productions. Six Degrees of Separation premiered in 1990 and was nominated for both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play.

Today theSpaceUK announces its 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Season with over 400 shows and the biggest new-writing programme at the Fringe. There's household names to hunt down an autograph from, award-winners with their eyes on another prize, up-and-coming companies back to make their mark, and plenty of debut performances.

At Theater West End, you've entered the world of WEST SIDE STORY before even taking your seat. Getting there requires walking across the blue-collar, gang-ridden streets of 1950s New York in the Upper West Side. There's graffiti on the floor beneath you and the walls all around. Fridays are normally my bad movie night. I traded bad movie night in for bad musical night. (Not that THE TOXIC AVENGER was executed poorly.) I found it thoroughly enjoyable and well casted. This show doesn't take itself seriously and that made this bad movie into a bad musical totally work. I can see why THE TOXIC AVENGER has a cultish following. The plot plus rock music by Bon Jovi's David Bryan makes for a night of laughs and good music.

Jackalope Theatre Company, the Edgewater-based theatre company currently in its 8th season, announces that Gus Menary will become its third artistic director, effective immediately. Menary had been serving in an interim capacity since March 2015. Additionally, longtime collaborators Paloma Nozicka and Corinne Bass have been named as Jackalope's newest company members.
