2010-2011 Universal 1 Variety Series Announced For Victoria Theatre Association

Victoria Theatre Association has announced the lineup for the fourth season of the Universal 1 Variety Series at the historic Victoria Theatre. The 2010-2011 brings: the popular comedic theatre troupe, The Second City; the hilarious Forbidden Broadway: Dances with the Stars; and one of Hollywood's most recognizable comedians, Larry Miller.

According to published reports, Broadway and television stars Kristin Chenoweth and Lea Michele will reunite on the silver screen for the animated feature 'Dorothy of Oz.' Michele will voice the title character of Dorothy, while Chenoweh will voice the character of China Doll Princess. The movie is based on the 'More Adventures of Oz' novels written by Roger S. Baum - great-grandson of L. Frank Baum's.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced the selection of the individuals who will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2009. Recipients to be honored at the 32nd annual national celebration of the arts are: writer, composer, actor, director, and producer Mel Brooks; pianist and composer Dave Brubeck; opera singer Grace Bumbry; actor, director, and producer Robert De Niro; and singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen.

A slew of Broadway talent joined in the 32nd annual Kennedy Center Honors on December 6th to honor acclaimed Broadway producer, Mel Brooks. The group included Gary Beach, Matthew Broderick, Richard Kind, Jane Krakowski, Matthew Morrison, Frank Langella and Martin Short. Brooks was honored as a winner of the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors for his contributions to both stage and screen.

Laguna Playhouse Announces Upcoming Shows, Nov 2009-April 2010

The Laguna Playhouse announces their upcoming shows from November 2009 through April 2010. The Laguna Playhouse was launched in a living room! That's right...on October 22, 1920, a group of dedicated local drama devotees got together and decided it was time to establish a community theatre in Laguna Beach. Initially there were play readings and performances in private homes and storefronts. The company's first full production on record was Suppressed Desires, a satire on Freudian psychology by Susan Glaspel, a member-with Eugene O'Neill-of the famed Provincetown Playhouse in New York and Massachusetts.
