On this day in 2013, the heartfelt play The Trip to Bountiful opened on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. 

The artistry, excellence and advocacy of the late Cicely Tyson will be spotlighted at Crossroads Theatre Company’s annual fundraising gala A Night with Crossroads to be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 7pm, the Crossroads Board of Trustees announced today.

Emmy-winning composer Matthew Head (P-Valley) scored PBS and WETA's upcoming 'The Black Church: This is Our Story, This is Our Song.' On January 28, BroadwayWorld was saddened to report that stage and screen icon Cicely Tyson has died at age 96. Tyson's family has set as official public viewing date. The viewing will take place on February 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York City.

In memory of Cicely Tyson, OWN will present “OWN Spotlight: Cicely Tyson” this Saturday, February 6 (10-11 p.m. ET/PT) featuring a never-before-seen intimate conversation with the legendary actress and Oprah Winfrey. The special will also stream on OWN’s Facebook page and discovery+.
