THE CHER SHOW, the new musical based on the life and six-decade career of the iconic singer and actress, will have its pre-Broadway world premiere in Chicago with previews beginning on June 12, 2018 at the Oriental Theatre before making its Broadway debut at the Neil Simon Theatre in Fall 2018. The 2018 Chita Rivera Awards were handed out last night, May 21 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The ceremony was hosted by Orfeh and Andy Karl. BroadwayWorld was in attendance at the big event and you can check out photos from the red carpet below!

At this year's Chita Rivera Awards, actress, dancer, and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade received the second annual Lifetime Achievement Award, iconic composer John Kander received the Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theater as a Composer and legendary theater director and producer Harold Prince was presented with the SDC Director Award for Exemplary Collaboration with Choreographers.

The national tour of the 2015 Tony Award-winning revival of THE KING AND I, now brightening the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester, is a perfectly respectable production. The timeless and soaring Rodgers and Hammerstein score is beautifully sung and impeccably played by the 16-piece orchestra, and design elements (especially Catherine Zuber's elegant period costumes) effectively juxtapose the traditions of 1860s Siam against the encroaching modernization of the. But something is off balance in this Bartlett Sher directed re-visioning. The women, not the King, rule.

Nederlander Presentations, Inc., James L. Nederlander, President, is pleased to announce the North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater's critically-acclaimed production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY. Directed by Bartlett Sher, the North American tour will launch in the Fall of 2019. Tour cities and casting will be announced at a later date.

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2017-18 season in 27 categories.

Everything's coming up Tonys! Spring has sprung, awards season has begun, and the latter is all that really matters to Broadway fans everywhere. Earlier this week, Katharine McPhee and Leslie Odom Jr. announced the 2018 Tony nominations, celebrating the best of the 2017-18 theatre season (and what a season it's been!). Leading the pack were Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical with 12 nominations, followed by Angels in America, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel andThe Band's Visit with 11 and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two with 10.
