For their final production of the 2018-2019 season, Wichita Community Theatre proudly presents The Dixie Swim Club-a Jones Hope Wooten comedy. For those unfamiliar to these three authors dubbed 'America's Playwrights' one may recognize their other works such as The Savannah Sipping Society which appeared at Wichita Community Theatre last year or most notably their comedic writing for The Golden Girls. The Dixie Swim Club is definitely a play that showcases wonderful similarities to the television sitcom. Directed by Leroy Clark, The Dixie Swim Club runs from now until July 28th at 258 N. Fountain.
FXX has renewed the Emmy(R) Award-winning animated comedy series Archer for an 11th season, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Gina Balian, Presidents, Original Programming, FX Entertainment. Season 11 will debut on FXX in 2020.

I witnessed the best stage effects I have ever seen anywhere (including Broadway), when on Saturday, July 20, I had the pleasure of seeing BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at the Sharon Playhouse, in Sharon, CT! While this story is likely familiar to most people, the Sharon Playhouse grips the audience right from the start, not merely by elevating the Enchantress into the air, but by having the Young Prince transformed into the Beast, on stage, in front of the whole audience, in a manner of seconds, with effective use of strobe lights, a successful undertaking of a greater magnitude than what people can expect in a typical magic show, much less a musical! Without providing any spoilers, for those of you familiar with how the story ends, that happens on stage too, right before our eyes, with effective use of strobe lights. Lighting Designer Jamie Roderick deserves a lot of credit for working what appears like magic, on the stage. Every show I have seen at Sharon Playhouse has been wonderful, but this is the best!
This fun and family friendly musical, adapted from the original Disney film, brings to life “a tale as old as time” of a selfish prince who is turned into a hideous monster and must win the affection of a beautiful, young girl in order to regain his humanity. This musical includes the classic scores of “Be Our Guest”, “If I Can't Love Her”, “A Change in Me”, the title song “Beauty and the Beast” and many more. The magical musical offers humor, romance, and excitement for all ages.
Dogg's Hamlet, Cahoot's Macbeth are two early plays by Tom Stoppard which were written to be performed together. Both use Shakespearean text to overtly entertain while being subtly subversive. Presented by the Potomac Theater Project this summer, the double bill is enormously entertaining.

They were arrested, their free speech squandered and rights evoked in the very fashion against which they protested. The ingenious idea to place Havel's 'Vanek Plays' in the center of Pinter's 'The New World Order' and Beckett's 'Catastrophe' does wonders to portray a political agenda that becomes more pronounced as humor gives way to the true nature of the matter at hand.
