Knight Theater should have been abuzz last Friday night. Yet somehow, a year after Charlotte Ballet's 50th-anniversary celebration - celebrated a year after the company's actual 50th anniversary - my own excitement wasn't reflected by the community at large. A night after Opera Carolina opened its 2022-23 season at Belk Theater to an empty upper balcony and a disappointing crowd, the curtain went up on Ballet's new era with a similarly sparse turnout.
ARC to Present Canadian Premiere Of MARTYR By Marius Von Mayenburg in January 2023

Toronto's ARC theatre company has announced its first show of 2023: the Canadian premiere of MARTYR by Marius von Mayenburg (translated by Maja Zade), directed by Co-Artistic Producer Rob Kempson. MARTYR will run at the Aki Studio Theatre, Daniel's Spectrum, from January 13 to 29, 2023. Opening night is January 14.
SYML to Release 'The Day My Father Died' Album in February

The Day My Father Died, the new album from SYML—the solo project of singer, songwriter and producer Brian Fennell. A new track, “Howling” featuring Lucius, is out now with an accompanying video. The video, filmed in Montreal, was directed by Benjamin Lussier and produced by Parce Que Films.
