Literally Alive Family Theatre announced its upcoming Off-Broadway season at the Players Theatre, featuring three original musicals based on classic literature: ALICE IN WONDERLAND, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and CINDERELLA.

For Cleveland Ballet Artistic Director Timour Bourtasenkov’s new production of Cinderella, premiering May 15-17, 2026, at Playhouse Square’s Mimi Ohio Theatre, he incorporated much of that tradition while crafting a ballet uniquely his own. 

The story of Cinderella is a classic known and beloved across the world for its rags-to-riches plot. Over the years, Charles Perrault’s 17th-century tale has taken many forms – films, various literary iterations, stage plays – but none more exquisite than Sergei Prokofiev’s Cinderella, Op. 87 ballet. Edwaard Liang’s rendition of the fairy tale at the Washington Ballet is nothing short of a revelation, packed with entrancing choreography throughout all three acts. Here, a classic tale is reinvented to somehow exude even more elegance.

Over 300 years after its publication, Charles Perrault’s Bluebeard remains a staple in gothic literature. The story follows a nobleman who brings home his much-younger bride, Judith, for the first time. He forbids her from entering seven different locked rooms only to give in to her curiosity, handing her the keys. To Judith’s horror, she discovers the bodies of her new husband’s three past wives. The chilling tale has been adapted time and again, inspiring books, movies, paintings, and stagings including the 1918 Hungarian opera, Bluebeard’s Castle. 

 Experience the timeless romance, Sleeping Beauty, set to the music of Tchaikovsky, with exciting and innovative choreography by Bengt Jörgen at Massey Theatre.

Fairy tales come to life as Cendrillon [Cinderella] takes the stage of Steinmetz Hall with Grammy award-winner Lindsay Ohse in the title role. Performances run February 7 and 9.
