HCC Concert Series Presents Children's Book Reading And Cello Recital

Reminiscing about his journey from the basketball courts of rural Israel to the grand symphony halls of the world, cellist Amit Peled will read his children's book, "A Cello Named Pablo" with the accompaniment of cello as part of Howard Community College's (HCC) Guest Artist Series on February 8, 2019, at the college's Science, Engineering, and Technology Building (SET), Room 101. The following evening, Peled will return with pianist Noreen Cassidy-Polera for the recital of "To Brahms, With Love" in the Monteabaro Recital Hall, located within the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA).

Shai Wosner Collaborates With Friends In Chamber Music Performances Across New York City

Returning to New York after his recital series of Schubert sonatas last spring, pianist Shai Wosner takes the stage with friends and colleagues in four chamber performances across the city-one each month from October to January. Throughout his career, he has embraced chamber music as an essential aspect of his artistry, to be pursued alongside performance as a soloist in recital or with orchestra. Now, this season, New Yorkers have the opportunity to experience his passion for chamber music over several different programs, all within a short window of time this fall and winter. The music of Gabriel Faure (1845-1924) is featured most prominently, including works written for duo, trio, quartet, and quintet ensembles. Additional composers on the programs are Cecile Chaminade, Schumann, Mozart, and contemporary American composer William Bolcom, who this year celebrates his 80th birthday.

Basil Twist Joins SYMPHONIE FANTASTIQUE in Select Performances

Beginning tomorrow, July 28, designer, director, master puppeteer, and MacArthur "genius" Basil Twist will perform in his singular creation, Symphonie Fantastique, during all Saturdayevening performances. The 20th-anniversary production, which has received near universal acclaim and is scheduled to close on September 2, will include Twist on July 28, August 4, 11, 18, 25 and September 1 at 8:30pm. Set to Hector Berlioz's revolutionary 1830 score, Symphonie Fantastique, for the first time in New York, features live piano accompaniment by Christopher O'Riley. Hailed as a creative masterpiece when it debuted in 1998, the production, which opened on April 4, is a presentation from HERE's Dream Music Puppetry Program and a centerpiece of HERE's 25th anniversary season.

Pianist Christopher O'Riley Plays the Range in CABARET FANTASTIQUE

HERE is thrilled to present Cabaret Fantastique, a culminating concert event featuring pianist Christopher O'Riley who performs his haunting solo piano arrangements of songs by Radiohead, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Elliott Smith, Portishead, and Sun Kil Moon. Master puppeteer and MacArthur "genius" Basil Twist and company members from Symphonie Fantastique will accompany O'Riley with new puppet work. The one-of-a-kind event will take place on August 19 at 7pm. Known to millions as the host of NPR's From the Top, O'Riley is currently performing live piano accompaniment for Basil Twist's Symphonie Fantastique, which continues performances at HERE until September 2.
