Single tickets for the North Charleston POPS! 2019-2020 season concerts will go on sale Monday, August 19 at 10 AM. The 2019-2020 season features something for everyone. The concerts for the eighth season include: GREAT AMERICAN SOULBOOK (featuring guest artist Melinda Dolittle) on Saturday, September 21; GREAT MOVIES, GRAND PIANO (featuring guest pianist Rich Ridenour) on Saturday, November 2; SONGS & STORIES OF NEIL DIAMOND (featuring guest artist Jack Wright) on January 25; POPS! IN SPACE (celebrating the music of John Williams) on Saturday, March 14; and CARPENTERS REMEMBERED (featuring guest artist Michelle Berting Brett) on Saturday, April 18. All shows will be performed at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.

Tony Award nominee Nick Cordero (A Bronx Tale, Waitress) has joined the previously announced performers Reeve Carney (Hadestown, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark) and Amy Spanger (Matilda, Elf) for the upcoming concert of the new musical Oswald on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 7.00pm at The Green Room 42 (570 10th Ave).

An expansive range of dance styles including contemporary, African and jazz will be featured in one captivating program at this year's Hudson Valley Dance Festival on Saturday, October 12, 2019. This diverse, enchanting program in Catskill, NY, is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

On Friday, August 9, I had the pleasure of seeing the inaugural production of Downtown Cabaret Theatre's Decades in Concert series, which is THE SOUNDS OF THE SEVENTIES. This approximate two hour performance includes nearly fifty different songs, performed by four extremely talented cast members. Mikayla Petrilla, Saige Bryan, Robert Peterpaul, and Everton Ricketts all have incredible voices, strong stage presences, tremendous acting skills, tight stage chemistry with each other, and a positive attitude of genuinely enjoying their performance, radiating positive energy all throughout this packed house! The choreography by Jennifer Kaye helps highlight the excellent dancing and synchronization skills from this first rate cast.

The North American tour of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit musical Beautiful - The Carole King Musical will welcome Kennedy Caughell (Carole King), James D. Gish (Gerry Goffin), Kathryn Boswell(Cynthia Weil), James Michael Lambert (Barry Mann), Matt Loehr (Don Kirshner) and Rachel Coloff (Genie Klein) to the Company beginning September 20 in Utica, NY.

ALL ARTS has announced the second season of Broadway Sandwiched. Work Light Productions announced casting today for the 50th Anniversary Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic musical, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Winner of the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, the North American presentation of the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's production will tech in Syracuse, NY.  The tour will officially launch at Austin's Bass Concert Hall on October 8 through October 13, 2019 before visiting over 30 cities including Los Angeles, Denver, Nashville, Dallas and Chicago.

In casting news, The Little Mermaid casting continues to go underway, with reports that Javier Bardem will play King Triton. Not only do we have the film to look forward to, but it was also announced that ABC will air The Little Mermaid Live! with Auli'i Cravalho and Queen Latifah. The highly-anticipated Cats film trailer was released, and a film adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was announced!
