Wander with Frida Kahlo, Remedios Varo, and Leonora Carrington through the abandoned halls of a mansion on Governors Island. The show centers on, as the artists often queried in life, the duality of humanity, womanhood, and art. The captivating, sometimes terrifying, work of these three women intertwine, as each attempts to shape their own reality in the face of systematic oppression and entrenched social hierarchies.
INTAR to Honor Legacy of Founder Max Ferra with Spring Reading Series

INTAR will present a reading series of plays, both new and old, to honor the life and legacy of Max Ferra, founder and first Artistic Director of INTAR, who died on February 4th in Miami after a battle with pneumonia. Ferra was 79 and retired from INTAR since 2004.

Plays & Players continues its collaboration with Power Street Theater Company with follow-up readings of El Nogalar by Tanya Saracho, Dark Matters by Oliver Mayer and To Catch the Lightning by Carmen Rivera. These three plays, representing 30/30/2, 30/30/3 and 30/30/4, were selected from a group of finalists chosen during the 30/30/1 full day event held with local theater and Latino community leaders in March, as part of a nation-wide event. The readings hope to serve as a further contribution to the already-growing conversation about the Latina/o voice and identity in the Philadelphia theater community.
