Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre Presents LA GRINGA, Now thru 3/22

Following on the heels of two critically acclaimed productions, The Chosen and Having Our Say, The Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre (CVRep) will present La Gringa, the 1996 Obie Award-winning play by Carmen Rivera. Directed by CV Rep Artistic Director, Ron Celona, La Gringa will be performed at The CV Rep Theatre in Rancho Mirage from tonight, March 4th through Sunday, March 22nd, 2015

UrbanTheater Company to Present Julia De Burgos: Child of Water

UrbanTheater Company (UTC) has announced the opening of its Season 9 with the Midwest Premiere of Puerto Rican playwright, Carmen Rivera's, Julia De Burgos: Child of Water, directed by Juan Castañeda (First Class, Devil Land, Hermanas Padilla).

Plays & Players and Power Street to Present Readings of NOGALAR, TO CATCH THE LIGHTNING and DARK MATTERS, June 2014

Plays & Players continues its collaboration with Power Street Theater Company with follow-up readings of El Nogalar by Tanya Saracho, Dark Matters by Oliver Mayer and To Catch the Lightning by Carmen Rivera. These three plays, representing 30/30/2, 30/30/3 and 30/30/4, were selected from a group of finalists chosen during the 30/30/1 full day event held with local theater and Latino community leaders in March, as part of a nation-wide event. The readings hope to serve as a further contribution to the already-growing conversation about the Latina/o voice and identity in the Philadelphia theater community.

Lark and FONCA Host 2013 Mexico/U.S. Word Exchange Readings This Weekend

The Lark Play Development Center in collaboration with Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) is pleased to announce the 2013 Mexico/ U.S. Playwright Exchange Program. For the eighth year the Lark will host playwrights from Mexico and pair them with bilingual U.S. playwrights, actors, and directors for a ten day cultural exploration that establishes ongoing channels of communication between artists in both countries.

'Treason or Reason' is part of HERO Theatre's Classic Film Project, world premiere scenes inspired by classic films performed live on a historical soundstage today, September 7th, 2013 in Los Angeles for two shows only.

Charlie Hofheimer Joins HERO Theatre's CLASSIC FILM PROJECT

Charlie Hofheimer, also known as Abe Drexler on AMC's 'Mad Men' joins the cast of HERO Theatre's 'Classic Film Project'. Hofheimer will star in 'Non Mi Scordo...with a Shmear' written by Danny Hoch. Ric Salinas of 'Culture Clash' will also star in the event in 'Treason or Reason' written by Larry Charles. The 'Classic Film Project' consists of scenes inspired by classic films.

Raices Theatre Company Now in Residence at Road Less Traveled Theater

Quiara Alegria Hudes, Colman Domingo, & Larry Charles to Pen THE CLASSIC FILM PROJECT at Hero Theatre; to be Performed 9/7

On September 7, 2013 for two benefit performances, HERO Theatre presents "The Classic Film Project." "The Classic Film Project" consists of scenes inspired by classic films. They will be presented live and written by Quiara Alegria Hudes (Pulitzer winning "Water By the Spoonful" and "In the Heights"), film/TV director and writer Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno, Curb Your Enthusiasm), Colman Domingo (Public Theater's "Wild With Happy"), Susan Blackburn Award-Winner Jennifer Haley, Luis Alfaro, Ricardo A. Bracho, Juri Henley-Cohn, Francesco DeSantis, Tamar Halpern, Danny Hoch, Carmen Rivera, Ethan Sandler, Candido Tirado and Annie Weisman. Directors include Michael-John Garces, Yetta Gottesman, Diane Rodriguez and Tina Sanchez. The scenes will be performed by members of HERO Theatre's acting ensemble alongside special guest artists.

Road Less Traveled Productions' RAICES Begins 11/18

For the first time Road Less Traveled Productions and RLTP Ensemble member Victoria Pérez will join forces to bring a unique play-reading series to WNY. The RAICES series will consist of 4 plays written by Latino playwrights and dealing with the Latino experience.

Repertorio Español Announces Simultext Installation

REPERTORIO ESPAÑOL is pleased to announce the installation of Figaro's Simultext® Captioning System at Repertorio's Gramercy Arts Theater (138 East 27th Street in Manhattan, NY). With the new system, every seat in the theatre will have a display screen showing the dialogue of the performance in English and Spanish. The system will debut at Repertorio's upcoming show, Probation. The installation was made possible by public funds secured by New York State Senator Liz Krueger.

Repertorio Español's Rene Buch Receives Spain's Order of Isabella the Catholic Today, 6/5

Repertorio Espagnol and the General Consulate of Spain bestow upon Artistic Director Rene Buch The Order of Isabella the Catholic. This honor is a Spanish civil order granted to non-Spanish citizens in recognition of services that benefit foster Spanish culture and cultural exchange. Buch will be presented the award at Repertorio Español's June 5th Gala at Repertorio's Gramercy Arts Theater located at 138 East 27th Street in Manhattan, NY.
