BroadwayWorld has a first look at The Muny's The Sound of Music, the second show of the theatre's 103rd season. The Sound of Music runs August 3rd through 9th, 2021.

Tonight, the classic musical, The Sound of Music, opened as the second offering of The Muny’s 103rd season. According to the show’s director, Matt Kunkel, The Sound of Music, is a show about love of God, family, and country. Kunkel is helming his first full scale production after serving as a Muny directing intern during college. In a previous interview, he told Broadway World that this production would strive to give people what they remember from the movie while staying true to the original theatrical source material. To connect to the movie, this production included the songs ‘Something Good’ and ‘I Have Confidence’ that were written for the film.

Additional cast members include Eric Wiegand (Plaza Suite), Kelly Krauter (Waitress 2nd National Tour), Sarah-Anne Martinez (Blue Bloods), Christina Barnes (Frankenstein), Kyle Caress (Cinderella National Tour), Jenn Maurer (Elf the Musical National Tour), Sophie Miller, Jack Ducat and Jake Letts.

Announced today is the complete casting for the world premiere off-Broadway musical A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet. Starring as ‘Regina Comet’ is Bryonha Marie Parham, who will be joined by A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet creators Alex Wyse, and Ben Fankhauser to complete the cast.

nspired by William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the musical is written by Cody Fry (American Idol), Emmy-winner Gary Fry, Joel Ansett (Marvel’s The Punisher), Lucille Lortel Award-winner Andrew R. Butler, and Jeff Daye (Cleopatra) to name a few.

Vineyard Theatre’s 2021 Gala Series will culminate in an intimate conversation between legendary musical theatre composers John Kander and  Lin-Manuel Miranda. The “Pay-What-You-Can” virtual event will debut on Thursday, July 22 at 7pm ET, with on-demand access available through Sunday, July 25 at 11:59pm ET.
