INTO THE WOODS opened on Broadway over 30 years ago. It has since been revived several times, adapted into a Disney Film, and presented by countless regional and community theatres as well as school groups. If you are thinking, "been there - done that" and there is no reason to see this presentation at BSC you are certainly not alone (no one is, after all) but I believe you are mistaken.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey launches their 57th season, titled Incredible Journeys, with a new take by Ken Ludwig on the beloved classic, The Three Musketeers. Directed by renowned fight director Rick Sordelet, this swashbuckling production will bound on to the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre stage beginning on June 12. Summer 1993 was an eventful year for this reviewer. I had just graduated from High School and was preparing for the next chapter in my life - college in Athens, Georgia. Like so many young people before me and so many after, it was a time in between, one that was both thrilling and completely terrifying. But it was also the beginning of a journey of self-discovery and an opportunity to redefine who I was and who I would be as a newly minted adult. So, it was particularly poignant to see the newest production from TheaterWorks (performed at the Wadsworth due to their current remodel), the musical GIRLFRIEND, with a book by Todd Almond and music by 90's rocker, Matthew Sweet.  

After, a powerful and profound drama, is now being performed at 59E59 Theaters through April 14. Written by Michael McKeever and superbly directed by Joe Brancato, the show features five exceptional actors. The story shines a light on bullying, its victims, and the effects that it has on families.

TheaterWorks Producing Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero announced today the cast and creative team for the Connecticut Premiere of Todd Almond and Matthew Sweet's GIRLFRIEND. The cast features David Merino (Rent, National Tour) and CJ Pawlikowski (Book of Mormon, National Tour) in this tender, truehearted rock musical based on Matthew Sweet's seminal album Girlfriend.

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to add the NYC premiere of AFTER, written by Michael McKeever and directed by Joe Brancato, to the Winter 2018 Season. Produced by Penguin Rep Theatre and InProximity Theatre Company, AFTER begins performances on Tuesday, March 12 for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 14. Press Opening is Sunday, March 17 at 2 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 7 PM; and Sunday at 2 PM.
