TheaterWorks Hartford is thrilled to present the 2022 edition of its New Work Festival. This free festival, running May 16–22, explores and celebrates new voices in American Theater. With workshops, a panel discussion, and talk-backs—both in-person and online—the New Work Festival strengthens TheaterWorks Hartford’s commitment to the development of important new plays. Participants include playwrights Brooke Berman, Melissa Crespo & Sarah Saltwick, Terry Guest, and James Anthony Tyler who are joined by directors Shariffa Ali, Michael Barakiva, Mikael Burke, and Caitlin Sullivan. What's brewing at ATC is nothing short of providential. JUSTICE feels profoundly earnest in its development, and even as the piece is rendered concert-style we're left with a fierce sensation that Arizona's regional theater company has struck gold, albeit mining is still in progress.
If Broadway is in the cards, don't be surprised and remember where it all started.
There's a lavish public appetite for musicals these days. Chalk it up, perhaps, to a creative vengeance after a stifling pandemic. In any case, it's great news to theater artists with a bent for collaboration. And when a musical takes on the urgency of the moment, the creator's inspiration becomes a genuine point of interest.
THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF DR. WONDERFUL (AND HER DOG!) will run at Playhouse on Park from April 23 - May 1, 2022. There will be a Sensory Friendly performance on Saturday, April 30th at 10am. Tickets are $10, reserved seating. The Sensory Friendly performance is sponsored by the Miracle League of Connecticut. Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston has announced the appointment of Rachel Bertone, award-winning regional director and choreographer, as its new Artistic Director. Bertone joins Linda Chin, previously Interim Executive Artistic Director and now Executive Producer, as the company's new leadership team for the 2022 summer season. Reagle's Founder and Producing Artistic Director Robert J. Eagle retired June 30, 2021, after a remarkable 52-year career.

ALL YOU GAIN: Totaled: A New Musical started as a passion project between Richard Eyler (Averno's Bittersummer) and Tyler McCall (Mandela) as a way to use their time during the COVID-19 pandemic. After a year of development the first look into this new work will be arriving on streaming services on January 13th, 2022 preceding their Green Room 42 performance now postponed til February 2nd, 2022.
