Birmingham Hippodrome will host a season of poetry and spoken word events this February and March, with the return of three popular events to the city.

In Black Sabbath – The Ballet expect a spectacular theatrical evening featuring thrilling dance and original Black Sabbath recordings (including Paranoid and Iron Man) alongside full orchestrations of their work (another first) and new orchestral compositions inspired by the sound of metal - all performed live by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

Heathers the Musical, will be ushering in a new cast from 21st February at The Other Palace, with the show now booking until 3 September 2023.

The full cast has been announced for Disney's Winnie the Pooh. The UK and Ireland premiere will begin performances at London's Riverside Studios (Hammersmith) from 17 March, with an official opening on 26 March.

The winners have been announced for the 2022 BroadwayWorld UK / West End Awards, honouring the best in regional productions, touring shows, and more which had their first performance between October 1, 2021 until September 30, 2022.

Gareth Gates and Divina de Campo will star in the UK Premiere of the Tony Award nominated, award-winning THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL which opens at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton* on Wednesday 5 April 2023.

Birmingham Royal Ballet has announced that Polina Semionova, Resident Guest Principal Artist with the Berlin State Ballet and former Principal Artist with The American Ballet Theatre in New York, will guest perform the iconic dual lead role of Odette and Odile in the world's best-loved ballet, Swan Lake, with BRB next year.

The UK premiere of South African choreographer Dada Masilo's The Sacrifice, inspired by two seminal works - Igor Stravinsky's monumental score and Pina Bausch's dancework The Rite of Spring - promises to be one of the highlights of the early 2023 arts calendar. A 14-venue tour, presented by Dance Consortium, opens at Brighton Dome on 21 and 22 February swiftly followed by shows at Sadler's Wells on 24 and 25 February.

Artistic Director Michael Longhurst and Executive Director Henny Finch have announced the casting for Diana Nneka Atuona's Trouble in Butetown. Tinuke Craig directs Samuel Adewunmi, Rita Bernard-Shaw, Ifan Huw Dafydd, Zaqi Ismail, Gareth Kennerley, Bethan Mary-James, Sarah Parish and Zephryn Taitte.

Lolita Chakrabarti's dazzling Olivier Award winning stage adaption of Yann Martel's best-selling novel Life of Pi, which is currently running at Wyndham's Theatre in the West End and stars an extraordinary life-size puppeteered Bengal Tiger, begins its first ever tour of the UK and Ireland at the Sheffield's Lyceum theatre in August 2023, where it will run from 29 August to 16 September 2023.

Birmingham Hippodrome is calling on the public to support its annual festive fundraising campaign to help enrich the lives of disadvantaged young people through theatre.

The UK and Ireland Tour of Disney's The Lion King will welcome 12 new members to its cast of over 50 actors, singers and dancers this winter. The award winning landmark musical is currently playing a season at Manchester Palace until 11 March, where over 300,000 people will experience the show during the only North West dates.

The Lavender Hill Mob based on the screenplay by T.E.B. Clarke, adapted for the stage by Phil Porter opens in Brighton next week. 

Opening at the Edinburgh Playhouse on 7 December 2023, Wicked will then travel to Bristol, Birmingham, Bradford, Southampton, Liverpool, Dublin, Sunderland, Cardiff and Manchester, where it will conclude at the Palace Theatre for Christmas 2024/5.

Birmingham Royal Ballet has announced the return of 'Still Life' at the Penguin Café, choreographed by Sir David Bintley, in a summer triple bIll at Birmingham Hippodrome from 8 - 11 June 2023, rounding off the Company's 2022-23 season.

NLP Ltd and Birmingham Hippodrome's enchanting lift-the-flap experience, Tales from Acorn Wood at Christmas is coming to life on stage at Birmingham Hippodrome's Patrick Studio between Tuesday 13 December and Saturday 31 December.

On Sunday November 20th, Donmar Warehouse will host A Song For Luce, a tribute concert in memory of the late Australian-born UK performer Lucinda Shaw. The event will include live music, stories, laughter and the joy of coming together to share wonderful anecdotes about Lucinda. The performance will be at 18:00.
