San Francisco Playhouse Launches Weekly EMPATHY GYM FIRESIDE CHATS

San Francisco Playhouse announced their new Empathy Gym Fireside Chat series which will be streamed live for free on YouTube. Each week, Artistic Director Bill English invites playwrights to join him for a one-hour conversation about playwriting, business, and the future of theatre. Audience members can participate in the conversation by leaving a comment on YouTube.

San Francisco Playhouse Presents REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES

San Francisco Playhouse presents Real Women Have Curves by Josefina López. Diane Rodriguez will direct the Playhouse production. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the play, which premiered at San Francisco's Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts on May 25, 1990. The play was adapted into an acclaimed 2002 film starring America Ferrera.

Rough Readings Presents THE PITCH By Aaron Loeb This March

Playwrights Foundation's March Rough Reading is The Pitch by Aaron Loeb, who is a Playwrights Foundation Alum, with these readings presented in partnership with San Francisco Playhouse. The Pitch by Aaron Loeb readings are on March 2, at 7:30 PM, Roble Hall, Stanford University, March 3 at 7:30PM, Theatre of Yugen (SF).

Playwrights Foundation Presents 2020 ROUGH READING SERIES

Playwrights Foundation's first Rough Reading of the year is Emmylu by Boni B. Alvarez, directed by M. Graham Smith. Using the tragic 2017 Las Vegas shooting as a point of departure, Emmylu explores how Trumpism appeals to many people of color. Readings of Emmylu by Boni B. Alvarez are on on January 13, 7:30pm, Roble Hall, Stanford University and January 14, 7:30pm, Theatre of Yugen, San Francisco.

San Francisco Playhouse Presents BORN IN EAST BERLIN

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for the second production of their 2019/2020 Sandbox Series of World Premieres: Born in East Berlin, written by Rogelio Martinez. Margarett Perry will direct the world premiere production, presented at The Creativity Theater.
