For the sixth­ holiday season, Big League Productions brings their critically acclaimed national tour of A Christmas Story, The Musical, to eight cities across the U.S., opening in Sacramento, CA on November 8, 2019, and running through November 17. The heart-warming TONY-nominated Broadway musical brings the classic holiday film vibrantly to life on stage by expanding the movie's iconic moments with breathtaking choreography and joyous songs. It's the first Broadway On Tour presentation in the newly-renovated Memorial Auditorium, 1515 J Street in Sacramento, home for Broadway On Tour while Community Center Theater is being renovated.

Last night, the 2018-2019 class of Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellows presented excerpts of full length works at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

Today (29 October 2019), as performances begin for the West End premiere of Dear Evan Hansen at the Noel Coward Theatre, producer Stacey Mindich announces a weekly digital lottery with the first draw taking place on Wednesday 13 November 2019. Dear Evan Hansen was the winner of six 2017 Tony awards including Best Musical and Best Performance by an actor. The first national tour of a Dear Evan Hansen has set up shop at the Kansas City Music Hall for a one week run.

Such was the repeated refrain that echoed throughout the theater lobby as gobsmacked Memphians filed out of Dear Evan Hansen, the first production of the 2019-2020 Broadway season at the Orpheum. Since its celebrated premiere on the Great White Way in 2016, the Tony Award winning Best Musical's original cast album, featuring music and lyrics by today's 'it' collaborators with the Midas touch, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, has seemingly transcended those who self-identify as musical theater lovers. Rather, its contemporary, pop infused tracks have built appeal across a broad array of audiences, with many - particularly millennials - able to sing or at least hum them on command. For that, tremendous credit is owed to Ben Platt of Pitch Perfect fame, who originated the role of Even Hansen on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in the process.

Palo Alto Players continues its 2019-20 season with A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL, the 2013 Tony-nominated musical based on the 1983 beloved film that follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams.
