In a production where the whole is certainly equal to the sum of its parts, Tuck Everlasting could emerge as a pleasing and long-lasting alternative to splashier or too familiar seasonal holiday fare.

Kansas City Actors Theatre has completed casting for its production of Ariel Dorfman's "Death and the Maiden," which will run from January 9th to the 27th at the City Stage in Union Station. The production will be directed by Cinnamon Schultz and will star Vanessa Severo, Robert Gibby Brand, and Rusty Sneary. The production team includes Gary Mosby (Scenic Designer,) Deb Morgan (Properties Designer), Georgianna Buchanan (Costume Designer), Shane Rowse (Lighting Designer), Jonathan Robertson (Sound Designer), Mary Allison Joseph (Dramaturg), and Kyle Dyck (Technical Director).

Casting has been announced for The Fuse Project and Rockwell Table & Stage's 'Scissorhands' running this  holiday season at 8pm Friday and Saturday nights with a Sunday 12 noon brunch, at Rockwell November 29 thru January 5, 2019.

Sources tell Variety that Alessandro Nivola is in talks to star as Dickey Moltisanti in "The Many Saints of Newark," the 'Sopranos' prequel film, according to Variety.

Audiences will have a chance to experience both lesser known classic plays and new works when Bucks County Playhouse launches its Play Discovery Series with a reading of 'The Outgoing Tide' by Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham on November 14 at 7:30 p.m. Directed by four-time Oscar nominee, Marsha Mason, 'The Outgoing Tide' is the first of several plays that will be part of the series for which Mason also serves as curator.  Additional titles will be announced shortly.

The forthcoming adaptation of Watership Down will feature an original song by Sam Smith, it was announced today. The Grammy, Brit and Academy award-winning artist was inspired by Richard Adams' classic novel to write and record Fire On Fire, an original song that will serve as the theme to the forthcoming animated mini-series. Fire On Fire was co-written with Steve Mac and was recorded by Sam Smith with the BBC Concert Orchestra at London's Abbey Road Studios in September 2018.

The LA Film Festival, produced by Film Independent, announced the winners of the 2018 Festival at the Awards Reception at the W Hotel in Hollywood presided over by Festival Director Jennifer Cochis and Film Independent President Josh Welsh. Sony Classical releases OPERATION FINALE (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) with original music byAcademy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel). The soundtrack will be available for streaming, download and on CD August 24, 2018. Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures (MGM) will distribute Operation Finale theatrically on August 29, 2018.

Over eight million people have lived to tell the tale of one of the most successful - and terrifying - theatre events ever staged, and it's coming to shock audiences in Chicago this fall. The Woman in Black - London's long-running West End play -  will open at Chicago's Royal George Theatre in November with all the stage thrills that have led audiences in London to shriek in fear for 30 years.

LETTERS LIVE is delighted to announce Benedict Cumberbatch as the first confirmed performer for its New York debut engagement on May 18 & 19, 2018, at The Town Hall. Performances begin at 8pm ET and will run for 2 hours and 20 minutes with a 20 intermission. The Town Hall is located at 123 West 43rd Street, between Sixth Avenue and Broadway, in midtown Manhattan. Trinity Repertory Company announced today that actress Mary McDonnell will be honored with the 2018 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the theater's 22nd annual Pell Awards Gala on Monday, May 21, 2018. A two-time Oscar nominee for Dances with Wolves and Passion Fish, McDonnell's theater, film and television career has spanned more than four decades with dynamic character portrayals in period and present-day roles, including TNT's The Closer and Major Crimes, Syfy's Battlestar Galactica, Donnie Darko, and Sneakers.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.

The Old Globe today announced that its 2018-2019 Season will kick off with the world premiere of the new musical Heart of Rock and Roll, inspired by the songs of Huey Lewis and the News, featuring a book by Jonathan Abrams and story by Tyler Mitchell and Jonathan Abrams. It will be directed by Gordon Greenberg with choreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Brian Usifer. Heart of Rock and Roll will bepresented by special arrangement with Tyler Mitchell, W. Leo Kiely, Bill Kiely, Whitney Kiely Moehle, and Tamar Climan. In Sally Potter's new dark comedy THE PARTY, Janet (Kristin Scott Thomas) is hosting an intimate gathering of friends in her London home to celebrate her political ascension, while her husband, Bill (Timothy Spall), seems preoccupied. Janet's acerbic best friend, April (Patricia Clarkson) arrives and others follow, some with their own dramatic news to share, but an announcement by Bill provokes a series of revelations that gradually unravel the sophisticated soiree, and a night that began with champagne may end with gunplay.

Enderby Entertainment today announced that Academy Award-winning director Robert Port will write and direct the World War II action thriller PEACE, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Richard Bausch. The film will star Alexander Ludwig and Sam Keeley and is being produced by Enderby's Rick Dugdale (AN ORDINARY MAN, INTRIGO TRILOGY) and by Richard Bullock. Maury Povich and Ludwig will serve as Executive Producers, which reunites Povich and Port after their Oscar-winning film Twin Towers. Principal photography is set to commence later this month in British Columbia.
