Michael Rosen's Chocolate Cake opens the new Spring/Summer season at Polka Theatre. The production opens with previews from 23 March and runs until 13 May. It has been adapted by the theatre's Artistic Director, Peter Glanville and Barb Jungr. Polka Theatre today announces full casting for the world premiere of the brand new musical adaptation of Michael Rosen's Chocolate Cake, opening the new Spring/Summer season. Norfolk & Norwich Festival has today announced the full programme for its 2018 Festival (11 - 27 May). The programme, which spans performance, theatre, music, visual arts, literature, circus, outdoor and family events, includes world and UK premieres, one-off spectaculars, and a host of free events across the Festival. LIVER BIRDS FLYING HOME is the brand new musical featuring Beryl & Sandra, the iconic characters created by Carla Lane and Myra Taylor from the classic TV series The Liver Birds. The musical features lyrics by Barb Jungr, music by Mike Lindup and book by Barb Jungr, George Seaton and Linda McDermott. Produced by Liverpool's Royal Court, Olivier Award winning West End producer James Seabright and George Seaton and directed by Benji Sperring, the musical opens at Liverpool's Royal Court for a limited engagement from Friday April 13th.

Little Angel Theatre presents The Singing Mermaid, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Lydia Monks, in collaboration with Royal & Derngate this spring. One day, the singing mermaid is tempted away from all of her sea creature friends and her peaceful home at Silversands to join a travelling circus. The audiences love to hear her sing, but the poor mermaid was tricked! Instead of the swimming pool she was promised, she is kept in a small tank by the wicked circus master Sam Sly, and she soon longs to return to the freedom of the sea.

Artistic Director of Polka Theatre, Peter Glanville today announces their new 2018 season. The new season comprises both new Polka productions and visiting work as well as classes and workshops, celebrating some of the greatest living writers for children.

Celebrated performer Barb Jungr put this collection of songs together a couple of years ago (alongside long-time collaborator and pianist, Simon Wallace) and has been taking the songs across the UK and the US, amongst other places, as well as appearing on the bill of the Art of Protest cabaret at the Donmar Warehouse earlier this year. Jungr describes the show as hundreds and hundreds of words packed together incomprehensibly , hoping to show the nice side of Dylan and the nastiness of Cohen.

As it bids farewell to its home of 11 years, the Metropolitan Room will present 24 continuous hours of free-wheeling entertainment -- from Sunday September 24 at 9pm, to Monday September 25 at 9pm. Featuring a mind-boggling 144 individual acts, with over a dozen emcees, and a battalion of musicians, technicians and hangers-on, the Metropolitan Room's 3rd annual Cabaret Marathon Extravaganza It's a Tradition was spawned by the Metropolitan Room's first record-setting (60-hour) entertainment marathon in January 2015.
