Black Ensemble Theater Announces 2018 Season: MOVERS AND SHAKERS

Black Ensemble Theater's Founder and CEO Jackie Taylor announces the 2018 Season featuring tributes to legendary artists Chuck Berry and Patti LaBelle, as well as the Blues (highlighting the music of some of the greatest Blues artists from Muddy Waters to B.B. King), Hip Hop music, and the Women of Soul. Performances will be held at the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark Street in Chicago.

Quincy Jones QWEST TV, 'The Netflix of Jazz,' to Launch 12/15

Qwest TV, the world's first subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform dedicated to jazz and jazz-inspired music forms founded by music legend Quincy Jones in collaboration with French jazz impresario and television producer Reza Ackbaraly, announced today its official global launch date set for December 15, 2017.

December Events Announced at Hawaii Blue Note

The holidays are officially here at Blue Note Hawaii and December kicks them off with an epic series with local legend Henry Kapono with his Back in the Day; The Songs of C&K shows. Next up are more local favorites ManoaDNA and Danny and Nicholas Kaleikini. Average White Band returns by popular demand followed by Willie K and a celebration of Frank Sinatra's birthday with the Mike Lewis Big Band. Robert Cazimero continues his residency followed by the incomparable Herb Alpert and Lani Hall. Donavon Frankenreiter returns for three nights, followed by Jake Shimabukuro and a heart-warming Charlie Brown Christmas show. It wouldn't be New Year's without the much-anticipated return of legendary jazz saxophonist Kenny G.

British TV Host, Pianist & Bandleader Jools Holland Headed to The Blue Note

World-class rhythm and blues/ boogie-woogie pianist Jools Holland has become a British institution over the last 25 plus years, having achieved worldwide acclaim as host of the immensely popular Later....With Jools Holland on BBC Two Television since its debut in 1992. Holland will now perform live in New York City, his first U.S. performance in more than 15 years, at the legendary Blue Note.

Graceland Launches 'Graceland Excursions' Offering Guided Music Experiences

Elvis Presley's Graceland has announced the launch of Graceland Excursions, offering unprecedented music and entertainment day-trip experiences, as guests tour like the King of Rock 'n' Roll in a luxury motorcoach. Graceland has custom-designed these interactive music adventures to serve as the ideal complement to the Graceland Mansion experience in Memphis, Tennessee. Initial tours will include trips to Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Presley's birthplace, and the Mississippi Delta region -- known as the Birthplace of the Blues. The luxury coach ride to and from each destination will be a big part of the experience, as Graceland tour guides and Archives staff take guests on a fun musical journey, celebrating the music that influenced Elvis Presley and exploring the genres that still inspire today's most popular performers. Graceland Excursions will preview with select dates in December 2017 and early January 2018, with an official launch of its regular, weekly schedule beginning January 12, 2018.

Gary Clark Jr. Featured On New Episode of SPEAKEASY on PBS TV

Gary Clark Jr.is the central subject of the new season opening episode of PBS TV's Speakeasy, which will air on PBS stations beginning today in New York and Los Angeles markets. Additional air dates in other markets will be announced at a later date.

The Verve Pipe, Ana Popovic and More Join 2017-18 The Barns at Wolf Trap Season

Today, Wolf Trap added six new shows to its 2017-2018 The Barns at Wolf Trap season; including The Verve Pipe, San Fermin, The Last Bandoleros, two nights of Pat McGee, and Ana Popovic (detailed listing information below my signature). Tickets to these shows go on sale Friday, November 10 at 10 am.

Latin Grammy Winners ILe & Gaby Moreno Join Forces At VPAC

iLe (Ileana Cabra Joglar) is a Puerto Rican singer, composer and vocalist who spent a decade touring Latin America with her brothers in the popular band Calle 13. Now, as successful solo artist she comes to Los Angeles performing music from her recent album that combines alt-rock with traditional boleros. Gaby Moreno, who sings the theme song for the series opening intro of Disney's first Latina princess Elena of Avalor, moved to the US from Guatemala after high school and now calls Los Angeles her home. Her guitar and bluesy vocals move easily between pop, soul, and classic Latin sounds. Both boast a Latin Grammy win and will serve up their unique blend of cultures onstage as part of the Music Knows No Borders series at VPAC (The Soraya) on Saturday, November 18 at 8pm.

November Shows Announced at Blue Note Hawaii

November at Blue Note Hawaii kicks off with one of the most influential saxophonists of our time GRAMMY Award-winner David Sanborn. Next up is a member of jazz royalty Delfeayo Marsalis along with his quintet and rounding out the lineup of international artists is jazz pianist Keiko Matsui. The stellar lineup of local artists is a who's who of Hawaiian music including Ka'imi Hanano'eau and the incomparable Jake Shimabukuro. Mid-month brings George Kahumoku Jr. & Bobby Ingano ft. Timmy Abrigo and Willie K. Audiences will be treated to one night only with Broadway songstress Loretta Ables Sayre. Thanksgiving week is a celebration with Anuhea & Friends, featuring special guest appearances by Lana Kei, Kimi Miner, Kamakakehau Fernandez, Mahi Crabbe and Paula Fuga. The month wraps up with performances by Hoku Zuttermeister, Ron Artis II and another not-to-be-missed series as Henry Kapono Presents: Back in the Day; The Songs of C&K featuring Gaylord Holomalia, Johnny Valentine, Blayne Asing, and Alx Kawakami.
