'B3 Series' To Feature WIT By Margaret Edison Previews 1/22

The B Street Theatre presents WIT by Margaret Edson Pulitzer Prize winning play continues B Street Theatre's hit 'B3 Series' The B Street Theatre, Sacramento's professional new works theatre, is pleased to present WIT by Margaret Edson. Winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, WIT is the third production of the B Street Theatre's 2008-2009 'B3 Series.' WIT is the story of Vivian Bearing, Ph.D., renowned professor of English who has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. In her study of the metaphysical poems of 17th-century writer John Donne, she is intense and probing yet detached. In her journey through an experimental chemotherapy treatment, Vivian finds insight, humor and humanity. WIT was premiered in 1995 at South Coast Repertory and went on to win the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Lucille Lortel Award for best play. WIT is the first play by playwright Margaret Edson, who lives in Atlanta where she is an elementary school teacher.

New Helvetia Theatre, founded by artistic director Connor Mickiewicz, seeks to bring theatre relevant to Sacramento - hence the reason the theatre is named after John Sutter's first settlement, Nueva Helvetia. The hope for New Helvetia Theatre is to build and educate a new generation of theatre-goers by rediscovering forgotten gems of the American Musical while re-examining classic musicals and plays.

Sacramento's B Street Theatre is presenting the U.S. Premier of Norm Foster's MENDING FENCES, a three-person play about inter-generational, dysfunctional family relationships. A poignant comedy from the playwright of Drinking Alone and The Mellville Boys. Harry Sullivan hasn't seen his son Drew in thirteen years. And now Drew is coming to Harry's Saskatchewan ranch for a visit. Mending Fences tells the story of two men who are too stubborn to give in to feelings of the heart. Directed by Elisabeth Nunziato.

The Falcon Theatre presents the world premiere comedy Surviving Sex, the fourth production in its 2008-2009 'Bringin' the FUNNY' All-Comedy subscription season. Written by acclaimed comedy writer David Landsberg (author of last year's hit play An Act of Love at the Falcon Theatre), Surviving Sex stars an ensemble cast led by Jeff Marlow, a veteran of the Falcon stage (Where's Poppa?, Sheldon & Mrs. Levine) and directed by Susan Morgenstern (director of last year's Falcon comedy, Leap).
