Asolo Rep, in conjunction with Miami New Drama, presents THE GREAT LEAP, a sharp-witted new drama by award-winning playwright Lauren Yee. Directed by Vanessa Stalling, THE GREAT LEAP previews March 18 and 19, opens March 20 and runs through April 11 in the Cook Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

World-renowned playwright and Tony Award® nominee Ken Ludwig (Murder on the Orient Express, Crazy for You, Lend Me a Tenor), will be in residence at Asolo Repertory Theatre February 19-21. On Wednesday, February 19, following the performance of his adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, Mr. Ludwig will take part in a post-show talk back with Asolo Rep Dramaturg and Literary Manager, James Monaghan. Actor James DeVita, who plays the role of Hercule Poirot, will also be part of the discussion. The talk back is open to all ticket holders for that performance; limited seating will be available to the public, based on availability. In addition, on Friday, February 21, Mr. Ludwig will be the guest speaker at Asolo Rep's Board of Directors Advance at the Embassy Suites in downtown Sarasota.
The comedy 2 Pianos 4 Hands has been added to the current Olney Theatre Center schedule as a special event for a limited run on the Historic Stage, May 8 - 24, 2020. Written and originally performed by Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt; Jefferson McDonald and Matt McGloin take the stage for this production to portray Ted and Richard from their very first piano lessons as they strive to become professional concert pianists. Directed by Tom Frey, each actor plays a piano in this comic look at what happens when we chase our dreams and come up short. Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional theatre in residence at Oakes Center in Summit, is continuing its 25th Anniversary Season with the NJ Premiere of Be Here Now by Deborah Zoe Laufer. This comedy was first produced at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in 2018 and since has been performed at venues throughout the country. Be Here Now runs February 20 through March 8, 2020.
World renowned acting professor, Andrei Malaev-Babel is bringing the Demidov Technique to America, specifically to Sarasota, in an experimental classroom project that will culminate in two weekends of performance of debbie tucker green's hang. The Demidov Technique teaches actors to draw from their subconscious minds to give personal and complex depth to the characters they play. Students will continue to develop their characters in the week between performances. Attendance is free and audiences are encouraged to return for the second weekend to see how the characters and interactions have matured. Performances will be held in the Cooley Studio February 21 a?" 23 and February 28 a?" March 1 at 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 PM on Sundays. Seating is extremely limited at this time and some performances are sold out.
YPT will introduce young audiences to a wild, multi-media adaptation of Jungle Book, from creators Craig Francis and Rick Miller (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea), based on Rudyard Kipling's beloved classic. Inventive and timely, Jungle Book will transport you from the urban jungle to Mowgli's childhood in the forests of India for this extended engagement on YPT's Mainstage from February 13 to March 21.

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory will start 2020 with the surprisingly delightful Gruesome Playground Injuries, a contemporary play by 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist, Rajiv Joseph. Ashley Teague directs the story of two people and the unique relationship they build over a lifetime of injuries, both physical and emotional. This sharp-witted and dark comedy will run from January 1 - 19, in the Cook Theatre with a pay-what-you-can (minimum $5) preview night on December 31.
