The Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, will welcome Danny Burstein and Jane Krakowski to announce the nominees for the 2016-17 season on Tuesday, April 25th (11AM) in the Oak Room at New York's renowned Algonquin Hotel (59 West 44th Street). The 24th Annual Merritt Awards for Excellence in Design and Collaboration will take place on Monday, May 15th, 2017 at Loyola University Chicago.Legendary Broadway and Film Costume Designer Ann Roth (The Nance, The Book of Mormon, The English Patient, Midnight Cowboy) will receive the 2017 Merritt Award.

The New York Times reports that producers Scott Rudin and Roy Furman will revive CAROUSEL on Broadway next spring with Jesse Mueller as Julie Jordan, Joshua Henry as Billy Bigelow, and Renee Fleming as Nettie Fowler.

It's always a comfort knowing that alumni from your Musical Theatre program are working and doing great things in the entertainment industry. Jake Emmerling is doing just that, currently spreading the good word across the country in The Book of Mormon national tour as a member of the ensemble. After returning to his alma mater for an afternoon to teach a choreography masterclass, I was lucky enough to sit down with the performer and hear about his experience being on tour with such a big Broadway hit.

The Book of Mormon today announces a ticket lottery, in which a limited number of tickets will be sold by ballot for $40 each on the day of the performance. The show's ticket lottery policy began with the Broadway production, and has continued for all subsequent productions, which include two US National Tours and London's West End. The Book of Mormon is currently in previews at the Princess Theatre. Opening night is Saturday 4 February.

Producer Scott Rudin announced today that The Front Page recouped its entire $4.875 million capitalization during the week ending Sunday, January 1, making official the show's much discussed smash-hit status.
