While most people spent their time during the COVID lockdown bingeing TV series, learning to make sourdough, or teaching themselves to knit, renowned tap dancer and teacher, Felipe Galganni (2022 Bistro Award Winner for Original Jazz Presentation) developed an entirely new creation - a Brazilian song and dance queen who sprang full blown from his love of the Olivia Newton John classic, Xanadu. He will introduce her to the world in The Rise of Xana DuMe along with her sisters and muses Gisele Bundchen, Carmen Miranda, Ann Miller, and Maria Montez in an evening of wildly entertaining music and terpsichore.

Some of Australia’s most-loved performers including Todd McKenney, Rhonda Burchmore, Rob Mills, and Asabi Goodman are joining Shane Jacobson, as Edna Turnblad, to star in the upcoming premiere of the Tony Award winning Broadway production of Hairspray, set to open at the Regent Theatre in August.

Spring is in the air this month as BroadwayHD, adds a lineup of new musicals, plays and documentaries. Kicking off the month on April 1st is Irving Berlin’s Easter Parade, a classic movie musical starring Judy Garland, Fred Astaire and Ann Miller, about a Broadway star who decides to go solo. 

The Al Hirschfeld Foundation is presenting its latest online exhibition, 'It Goes So Fast: Our Town by Hirschfeld.' Now live through May 15, the exhibition features Hirschfeld's reflections of the legendary Thornton Wilder drama featuring artists including Frances Conroy, Henry Fonda, Spalding Gray, Helen Hayes, and more.

Theater Resources Unlimited has announced TRUSpeak ... Hear Our Voices! Virtual Fundraiser on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 5pm (eastern time) via Zoom. TRUSpeak is a curated selection of short plays and musicals by TRU writers, produced by TRU producers and directed by TRU directors, all touching upon current social issues.

Paul Phillips, famed Broadway Actor and Stage Manager has passed away in Naples, Florida of natural causes at the age of 95. Paul Phillips was born on October 1, 1925 in Pleasantville, NY. Paul toured the country and worked summer stock for many years stage-managing such legendary performers as Charlton Heston, Groucho Marx, Ethel Waters, and more.

The Broad is alive and well and Ms. Dowdy is living proof.
