The Office! A Musical Parody has made its claim as one of the most successful shows currently running Off-Broadway. The new musical reached 130% gross potential Christmas week and shattered all Theater Center box office records in a single week by taking in nearly double that of any previous show, including the 11-year run of The Fantasticks. The Morris Museum in partnership with the National Music Museum (Vermillion, South Dakota) presents the exhibit Trumpets, Weird and Wonderful: Treasures from the National Music Museum - 44 fascinating instruments from five continents, on view at the Morris Museum from October 7, 2018 to March 17, 2019.

Not to be missed! Two River Theater is now presenting 'Songbird.' Set in Nashville, Tennessee, it is an intriguing story based on Anton Chekhov's 'The Seagull' that deals with the complexities of human relationships. Written by Michael Kimmel, with music and lyrics by Lauren Pritchard, the show features the finest direction by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, choreography by Marc Kimelman, and musical direction by Kris Kukul.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present another 'Uke Night,' a Broadway celebration of the ukulele!  The one-night-only event took place on Monday, April 2 at 7pm.

Tonight, titled 'Broadway Does St. Paddy's', has company members joining forces to celebrate the 'Luck O' The Irish' and benefit VH1's Save The Music Foundation by raising money to keep music in public schools around the United States. 'Broadway Does St. Paddy's Day' is sure to be filled with music, storytelling, and most importantly, keeping arts in education.

Though the Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of writer/director John Carney's well-liked indie film ONCE is a musical that this reviewer has liked quite a bit from past productions, it took seeing South Coast Repertory's brand new regional production---now on stage in Costa Mesa through September 30---for this reviewer to not only like it, but to truly adore it. From casting to staging and everything in between, SCR's enjoyable new mounting, under the astute direction of Kent Nicholson, is somehow much more emotional, thoughtful, and remarkably riveting than past touring productions. And though, yes, it is essentially the same source material, SCR's exquisite new iteration of this small, but genuinely endearing musical is by far the gold standard of how this show should look and feel in any and all future productions.
