by Robert Barossi - Nov 19, 2019

a?oeThe devil made me do it isa?? is often said when one is caught doing something they shouldn't have. BWW Review: The Rhyme's the Thing at Burbage's THE SCHOOL FOR LIES
by Robert Barossi - Oct 8, 2019

It's always exciting when a young theatre company finds a place to call its own, a permanent home where it can grow creatively and grow hopefully long-lasting roots into the surrounding community and the local performing arts scene. Such is the case with Burbage Theatre Co., which has just opened its first ever show in their new space at 59 Blackstone Ave in Pawtucket. While the show, David Ives' The School for Lives is a bit uneven, it is an undeniably successful launch of this exciting new phase in the life of Burbage.

BWW Review: Down-to-earth OUR TOWN at Burbage Theatre Company
by John McDaid - Mar 20, 2019

Thornton Wilder's 'Our Town' is a poignant snapshot of a bygone America, a keenly observed drama which retains its relevance 70 years after it debuted - and more than 100 years after it's set. For those who've never seen the show, the Burbage Theatre Company offers an introduction to this classic with a few standout touches.

BWW Review: TWELFTH NIGHT, OR WHAT YOU WILL at Burbage Theatre
by Larry O'Brien - Feb 26, 2018

The Burbage Theatre continues its inaugural season in its new home at 249 Roosevelt Ave. in Pawtucket with a raucous production of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIIGHT, OR WHAT YOU WILL. Harold Bloom has called TWELFTH NIGHT 'the funniest of all Shakespeare's plays.' While I'm not sure Bloom is a reliable guide to comedy, the mostly youthful Burbage cast has managed to fully mine the humor in this piece. 'We're eager to bring (TWELFTH NIGHT) to life, and we've got the team to do it,' said director Jeff Church, who is also Artistic Director at the Burbage.

BWW Review: Darkly Hilarious THE FLU SEASON at Burbage Theatre Company
by Andria Tieman - Nov 21, 2016

THE FLU SEASON is a darkly funny, incredibly touching and thoroughly strange production.  At its core, it's a simple story about love and relationships. The setting of a mental hospital, with additional commentary from two men known as Prologue and Epilogue, who are dueling over creating the story as it unfolds for the audience, complicates things and interjects unexpected twists and turns.  Burbage Theatre Company has never been afraid to take on the surreal and strange, and with The Flu Season, they have proven once again that odd little stories are in very good hands.  Under the expert direction of Wendy Overly, this simple premise becomes wholly immersive and heartbreaking.
