Playwrights Horizons today announced that four wide-ranging and award-winning artists have joined its Board of Directors: Bash Doran, Larissa FastHorse, Robert O’Hara, and Alan Poul.

Ucross, an artist residency program and creative laboratory for the arts in northeast Wyoming, today announced playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins as its newest board member. Jacobs-Jenkins, whose work includes Everybody (Signature Theater), Neighbors (Public Theater), An Octoroon (Soho Rep, OBIE Award for Best New Play), and more.

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust today announced the names of the 20 outstanding early-to-mid-career playwrights who will be celebrated with 2020 Steinberg Playwright Awards in the amount of $10,000 each. As previously announced, these awards are being given in response to this extremely difficult year, and in an effort to better meet the immediate and pressing needs of playwrights.

Philadelphia Theatre Company is now seeking submissions from playwrights for the newly reinstated Terrence McNally Award. The submission deadline is February 1, 2021. One selected playwright will receive a cash award of $5,000 and early development guidance, including administrative and dramaturgical support. Submissions will be assessed by Resident Artist Jeffrey Page, who is overseeing the award process, and a panel of theatre industry professionals.

Esteemed American playwrights Ed Bullins, Constance Congdon, and Philip Kan Gotanda have been announced as the inaugural recipients of the Legacy Playwrights Initiative Award(s). The winners will be recognized by their friends and peers at the Dramatists Guild Foundation “Write in the Dark” virtual benefit on December 21, 2020.

New Native Theatre presents its Fourth Annual Play Festival: Good Medicine. It will run virtually from December 3, 2020 to December 12, 2020 and feature Native American, First Nations, Māori, and Sámi artists from all around the world.
