Opera stars from across the globe will perform works from some of the most beloved operas of all time at the International Opera Awards 2022, as the opera world comes together to celebrate the best of the past season. Taking place this year at Teatro Real in Madrid on Monday 28 November, the first in-person event since 2019, the International Opera Awards 2022 is once again sponsored by Mazars.

The Orchestra of Teatro Real (the Royal Opera of Madrid), Spain's national opera house and winner of “Best Opera Company” at the 2021 International Opera Awards, makes its U.S. debut at Carnegie Hall in “A Celebration of Spanish Music” on September 15, 2022 at 8:30 pm. The concert celebrates the music of Spain, with the first half devoted to piano and orchestral music by Falla and Albéniz.

The musical series will see the return of Carolina Domenech (“Allegra”), Elena Roger (“Cocó”), Clara Alonso (“Caterina”), José Giménez Zapiola “El Purre” (“Marco”) and Kevsho (“Félix”). “Disney Interwined” is available on Disney+ in Latin America, in the US and rest of world.
Merola Opera Program will showcase lush, lyrical, and romantic works by Latin American and Spanish composers in the Schwabacher Summer Concert, when the young artists of the 2022 program perform vibrant operatic scenes by distinguished composers that include Daniel Catán, Manuel de Falla, Osvaldo Golijov, and Amadeo Vives. Featuring a full orchestra, the Schwabacher Summer Concert explores the invaluable contributions that these composers have made to the world of classical music. Jorge Parodi, General and Artistic Director of Opera Hispánica, conducts while Jose Maria Condemi (Merola ’99/’00) directs.
