Review: KIM'S CONVENIENCE at TheatreSquared
by Theresa Bertram - Feb 21, 2023

What did our critic think of KIM'S CONVENIENCE at TheatreSquared? The coolest places to hang in Fayetteville is definitely Dickson Street. It has George's Majestic Lounge, which hosts so many awesome bands, Walton Arts Center, which brings in national touring companies, and my favorite- TheatreSquared, which has KIM'S CONVENIENCE showing through Sunday, Feb. 26. Written by Ins Choi and directed by Nelson Eusebio, this comedy definitely brings the laughs but also tugs at your heart with the realness of family expectations and desires. This performance brings out honest emotions and is worth seeing again!

BWW Review: Expect the Unexpected in Repertory Theatre St. Louis' Wonderful HEISENBERG
by Chris Gibson - Nov 2, 2017

Life lurches along in unexpected directions for most of us, and that's what makes playwright Simon Stephens' HEISENBERG so identifiable. There actually is a Heisenberg Principle , which says: it is impossible to measure the position and velocity of a particle at the same time. So, we're never able to ascertain where they are or where they are going at any given time. A lot of my friends are like that. Which brings us to The Repertory Theatre St. Louis's wonderful production of this play, which is taking place in the Studio Theatre of the Loretto-Hilton. This is the perfect venue for it, since it allows us to eavesdrop on the odd and intimate encounters of two very unlikely companions. It all comes off very spontaneous in execution, which is certainly a credit to the two compelling performers (Joneal Joplin and Susan Louise O'Connor), as well as sparkling direction of Steven Woolf. This is, again, a real must-see work.

BWW Review: HEISENBERG: THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE, Wyndham's Theatre
by Marianka Swain - Oct 10, 2017

For the premiere work of new company Elliott & Harper Productions, director Marianne Elliott got the Curious Incident band back together, from playwright Simon Stephens to her acclaimed creative team. But it's in service of a much more intimate piece that while strikingly staged at times feels like an odd fit for a West End house.

BWW Review: Captivating HEISENBERG Lands at the Taper
by Don Grigware - Jul 10, 2017

After a successful run in New York, off and on Broadway, Simon Stephens' curiously captivating Heisenberg takes a bow at the MTF through August 6 with its two stars Denis Arndt and Mary-Louise Parker still on board. The time is the present. Alex Priest (Arndt) and Georgie Burns (Parker) meet by accident - or do they? - in a train station in London. She starts chatting a mile a minute as he listens practically in complete silence. Both are terribly lonely souls, as it turns out. At first glance, Georgie tells Alex that she is an assassin and laughs if off claiming to be a waitress. Later she confesses to being a receptionist in a school. He truthfully tells her he's a butcher. She had a brief unhappy marriage to a philanderer and had a son by

BWW Recap: Kara and M'Gann Must Fight a White Martian on SUPERGIRL

BWW Recap: Supergirl Overcomes 'Medusa' in the First Part of the Four Part Crossover
by Nicole Ackman - Nov 29, 2016

This week's episode of Supergirl was the first part of the four part crossover series with The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. The Danvers family Thanksgiving is interrupted by Cadmus releasing a virus called Medusa on National City. Meanwhile, Alex struggles to come out to her mother (guest star and former Supergirl herself, Helen Slater) and Kara fights the idea that Mon-El has feelings for her.

BWW Recap: SUPERGIRL and Friends Reach 'The Darkest Place' Yet This Season
by Nicole Ackman - Nov 21, 2016

Undoubtedly, SUPERGIRL has gotten darker since its switch this season to the CW. And this episode, with the fight between J'onn and M'Gann, the Guardian being framed for murders he didn't commit, and Kara and Mon-El being kidnapped by Cadmus definitely proved it. But there's more than one romance blooming in National City…

BWW Recap: SUPERGIRL's Friends are All 'Changing' on this Week's Episode
by Nicole Ackman - Nov 15, 2016

Everyone surrounding Kara -- James, Winn, Alex, Mon-El, and J'onn-- went through a major life change on this week's episode of SUPERGIRL. James and Winn debuted their combined creation of The Guardian, Mon-El dealt with whether he wants to be a hero or not, and J'onn received a threatening blood transfusion. Most poignantly, Alex came out to Kara in a stunning portrayal by Chyler Leigh. Meanwhile, the DEO team battled an alien parasite that proved to be a dangerous match even for Supergirl and the Martian Manhunter. The acting in this episode, especially from Chyler and Jeremy Jordan, was truly some of the best we've seen this season.

BWW Recap: SUPERGIRL Learns the Truth About Survivors
by Nicole Ackman - Nov 1, 2016

The theme of this week's episode was undeniably the challenges of being a survivor as J'onn learned sad truths about his new Martian friend and Mon-El tried to deal with his new life on Earth. Alex and Maggie teamed up again to bust an underground alien fight club run by a woman named Roulette. My favorite part of the episode? A small guest appearance by Laura Benanti as the hologram of Kara's mom.

On SUPERGIRL's exciting Season 2 premiere, she finally teams up with her cousin Superman to fight crime together. BWW Recap: GREY'S ANATOMY Avoids Catastrophe, but Hasn't Yet Found the Cure
by Lauren Gienow - Sep 30, 2016

“Catastrophe And The Cure”—The second episode of season 13 of GREY'S ANATOMY aired last night, and the show continues to move each plot forward in interesting ways—Alex continues to face the repercussions of his assault on Deluca—personally, professionally, and legally; Both Jo and Deluca also have to face the emotional and professional fallout of Alex's actions; the Meredith/Maggie/Riggs love triangle continues its slow and awkward burn toward inevitable hurt feelings—even though Meredith somehow seems to think that this is avoidable; Jackson and April work to figure out the whole parenting-while-divorced-and-while-mom-is-recovering-from-surgery thing; and Owen and Amelia adapt to being married and therefore kind of needing to communicate with each other—a skill at which this couple has always fluctuated from being awful to amazing. Those fluctuations continued last night.
